i got around to seeing The Dark Knight earlier this evening(i know, what took me so long) and it did live up to the hype, unfortunately. i was really honestly hoping for something sub par, just because the marketing campain these past two weeks has been pissing me off so damn much. whatever though, it was good. really fucking good actually. heath ledger showed us all why he eventuall killed himself, that's what happens when good actors get sloppy and take their work home with them. it's still really sad, because he was amazing, and i would have LOVE LOVE LOVED to have seen him in The Dark Knight Returns. which brings up the question of whether or not they're going to make it and if they do, how. this only served to futher sour my mood at the end of the movie because that's such an amazing graphic novel and the one i really want to see more than this one or batman begins. oh well. the plus side of it all is that it's only about 7 or 8 months until Watchmen comes out and i just saw the preview for the first time tonight. and holy fucking shit it actually looks good. i'm sure nobody else knows or cares but Watchmen has been in and out of pre-production phases for nearly a decade and has gone through several different direction teams and cast line ups before finally settling on this one. not to mention that alan moore has disaproved of every single step along the way which made me a little skeptical of the outcome, because let's face it, Watchmen is a graphic novel, maybe even the best, and that's how it should be, ink on paper. but as we all know by now americans don't have that kind of time anymore and need the source material on the big screen where they don't have to think as much and have both hands free so they can eat and scratch their balls while watching, and what's better than that. well, reading watchmen for one, but yeah, moving on, it looks damn good. next on the list for me is Hellboy 2, which i think should match up nicely to The Dark Knight. I expect equal quality of action, better fantasy and lighter dark humor, and guillermo del toro should carry this one quite nicely. then i think that about wraps up the comic book movies for the summer, unless i'm mistaken, which i definitly could be. so far the ranks are 1)The Dark Knight 2)Wanted 3)Hankcock and 4)Iron Man. I didn't and won't see Hulk until i either download it or see it by accident somehow. just because the hulk is bullshit and not even edward norton can change that.
mmm, it's good to nerd out. okay time for a bogie flick and some sleep. yay.
