On Writing and other things
So, today I'm going to try to sit down a write a "bible" for my new-pulp universe. It's going to be a time line from today - 2024 when the stories are going to be set, plus notes on characters, background seeds, etc. I'm going to tie some of my characters to pulp characters of the 1920's/30's, and those will be 'fanfic' pieces. I have a team of characters I've created and they I will attempt to publish. (Though if I do a good job with my modern Zorro, I might have to see where I could push that because it would make a great modern PI TV series.)
I think by laying out a 'bible' that will help me codify what I want to do with the series. I know that I have three big events that set the stage for the world. The Big One hits the west coast in Oct 2012, 2 weeks later on Election Day New Madrid has an 8.9 quake wiping out several major cities, and finally Jan 2013, Mt. Rainer (sp?) erupts, cutting off a good deal of the NW US. (I was toying w/ Yellowstone, but then upon researching what that COULD do....I thought that was too harsh.)
But with these events, plus the start of a rebound from the economic meltdown will set up the rise of the new bread of pulp heroes and villains.
