A Bump in the road

Okay, sounds really silly after my last post, but, last week I got laid off from my job. On thursday (the same day as my post, ironically enough) my boss came in and said that TicketStub had found out what we (the business) were doing. And while eveything that we were doing was legal, they didn't like the fact that we were making a profit so easily and with minimal risk involved. So they blackballed us, refusing to sell us any more tickets. Since they were our main supplyer, David said that we wouldn't be able to continue being in business. He said some really nice things about me and said he'd be a reference for me.

So that sucked...

However, monday afternoon (yesterday) I had an interview lined up for Stonebelt, which is a housing facility for people with developmental disabilities. The interview went great and Megan (the HR lady who was interviewing me) said, "Okay, let's find a position for you right away!" She looked through the available positions and based off of what I had said earlier in the interview about wanting to eventually get into teaching, found a position for me at their Maxwell House (I know, funny, isn't it?) which is their house specifically for teenage boys with developmental disabilities. It's an overnight position, so I actually won't be that much around the kids, however, since it's overnight, I'll be on the same schedule as Laura! Hooray! It's 40 hours a week, 9-10 dollars an hour (I can't remember exactly, I was too happy) and I'll get healthcare, dental, paid time off, the works. So really, things didn't turn out too bad after all.

Now we just have to see to that damn computer. We went into the repair store over in the shopping strip on 10th and the bypass (laura had read some reviews online about them, while at work, which said that they were really good, plus they're the cheapest in town) and as soon as we had explained what had happened, the little nerdy-guy behind the counter said "Oh! I know exactly what virus that is, we get that in here all the time, so it won't be any trouble to get rid of." So that's a relief. So now we just have to scrape together 100-140 dollars to get it fixed. Yuck.

Oh well, so yeah, I'm posting right now from Laura's parent's house while Laura's mom measures her for a bridesmaid's dress for mary's wedding (way too many "'s" in that sentence) but yeah.... we're hoping they might be able to help out with the whole financial thing... we only have $15 to our name right now.... which needs to last us until friday, when I'll get paid for the work I did for IndyTickets. Luckily, Laura will get paid the week after that and hopefully, I might get my first paycheck from my new job either the next week or the week after.

But yeah, to sum up, a little bump, but it looks like everything worked out alright in the end... thank goodness.
