So here I am, writing this post because there's nothing to do right now at work.
Yes, that's right, for those of you who don't know, I finally got a job! I started on monday, and I LOVE it. I got the job through a temp agency, and basically, all I do is sit at a computer in a tiny room and buy and sell tickets (for concerts, sporting events, etc.) between our company and other ticket brokers. It's a pretty new company (only a year old or so) and so there are a few bugs in the system, so sometimes it slows down a bit here. I'd say that on average, out of the 9-5 that I'm here, most days I only really do two or three hours work... because there just isn't that much to do right now. Basically, I just read or play solitaire and every 5-10 minutes, hit refresh on the browser to see if any new orders have come in. But hey, it's 40 hours a week at $11 dollars an hour, so I'm not complaining. Plus, the job is for an indefinete amount of time, so I won't be passed around by the temp agency. On top of that, I'm their first employee in this department, so I'm actively setting up company policies that will be carried out years from now when the company expands (they're hoping to expand my department to about 100 people within the next year or so)!
So, I kinda destroyed Laura's computer.... last weekend, I was playing a game on it and utorrent was up and suddenly everything went to crap... the desktop turned red with a big biohazard symbol.... a few new desktop icons advertising porn popped up and when I tried to go into the control panel from the start menu, I noticed that all the stuff concerning the computer (my computer, my documents, control panel, etc.) had all disappeared! So yeah, Laura's desktop has now been turned off indefinetly... and now that lappy's cord finally crapped out on us, that means we have no access to the interwebs at home. We're going to take laura's computer into one of the many computer repair stores in bloomington, but we'll have to wait until next friday (when I get my first paycheck) because we've looked into the price and most of them seem to charge around $35 an hour... and since we have no idea how long it'll take to fix, we'll just wait till next friday when we have more money.
So yeah... now that Laura's computer is gone.... the apartment is a lot more boring. It really suxks now to come home and for laura to leave to go to work just a few hours after I get home. But oh well, we'll get used to it, I suppose. Hmmmm.... now it's time for my hour lunch break, which I'll spend by eating my packed lunch at the computer and still semi-doing work (if anything pops up that is.... which it probably won't).
