The tide is merciless as we rush forward to do battle with the small cadre of living dead that had surrounded Faith, Michael, and myself. I instantly go from Connor-mode to Destroyer-mode. My mind disconnects itself as my body becomes a living weapon ( Read more... )

Damn. These things don't much like to die. Though I guess I can understand that, seeing as they've already done it once. But STILL. Vamps are so much more polite about just dusting already. Not havin' a brain really makes these guys slow on the uptake ( ... )

Sam and I as well as Ash mobilized in the jeep and headed toward the screams. I exchanged glances with Ash as he actually smiled and winked at me indicating Sam. I didn't know if he was indicating her for me or that he'd try some chain saw charm on her even though I suspected she wouldn't go for the ol blade n kink routine...actually, hopefully there isn't an old blade n kink routine because that would be just...ok Xander, thinking too much ( ... )

The reinforcements pick us up along the way and I sit shotgun and give directions while trying not to be too distracted by the holes being burned into the side of my head by the significantly older but at the very least, interesting guy, sitting behind and to my left. I could be a teenage girl around Quintana, Ash, and Xander, but the soldiers were a completely different story. They don't know me and they already don't like me by default, so I've got to be the icy ball busting bitch to keep a grasp on command. But I've had lots of practice ( ... )

I see the jeeps tear up to the scene, and hear some man call out Faith's name. Evidently her legacy proceeds her ( ... )

As we hit the scene, the kid and I dash head first into the big bad zombie jumble. He runs in one direction toward some filly he seems to recognize, and I dash in the other. Bed to spread out.

Dish the ass kicking proportionally.

I slam the Chainsaw into motion, hoping I still have enough gas to cause enough damage here and get out alive, and start hacking into these dead screwheads.

I've downed about four of them when I see a body flip through the air and land nimbly like a cat on the hood of the jeep behind us.

Thank god it was a living person, and not some new freak acrobat zombie.

"Show off," I mutter.

Incoming fire? Oh right, gunfire...I was half expecting a blaze of flame or something initially.

"Yeah, thanks for the update!"

I smacked another zombie who was too close in the head and it got stuck facing to the right. Eugh.
Gross gross gross gross.
Finally they started to pin me in too close for comfort.

"Not good, not good, not good"

Quickly I bent down low then sprung upwards into a backflip and landed on undead shoulders. I then proceeded to use the crowd as stepping stones to the jeep which appeared to be the safe spot right now. Like anywhere was safe.

"Excuse me, pardon me, sorry pal, coming through"

On one of the last I pushed my weight down and he hit the ground. I moved into a forward roll and stood up by the jeep my hands up ready to punch out. I looked up at Connor stood on the hood and gave a puzzled look.

"I'm not even going to ask why you're up there", I shook my head and laughed.

I released the safety on both my pistols as they still laid in their holsters on my waist. Pulling them free I then took aim and fired four quick shots as I advanced toward the mob. Four bodies hit the gound ( ... )

I pause for half a second as a guy who could only be a few years older than me comes flying from the crowd and lands on the hood next to me. If I didn't know any better I'd say he was thrown, but he didn't behave like someone falling. The craziest thing was that he didn't even dent the hood. I had counted him and his two friends as the three civilians amoung the crowd.

"Connor, thanks for the rescue."I see that the crowd of zomibes is quickly dwindling, unfortunatley not so much because of the soldiers as because of the individuals working on the mob, so I pause from breaking Zombie limbs to do an introduction ( ... )

The cool thing about having more people on your side is that it matters less how many aren't on your side. Even I, queen of loners, can admit that. As people started jumping out of the army vehicles and into the fray, I could tell that the zombies were coming more slowly. In one of the ever-less-brief pauses between attacks, I heard my name in a strangely familiar voice ( ... )

Faith finally noticed me but there was no time for explanations or annoyance of her ignoring me because dead and chompy was well, chomping. I punched him back and Faith threw him into the ground and he rolled towards the wall.

"Thanks." I managed to get out as more lunged at me. Ok, this was a little too Dawn of the Dead for me. Maybe I was in a little over my head. I slashed my axe and realized suddenly it was getting me nowhere so I handed it to Faith who would get more use out of it then me.

I backed off but was grabbed from behind, I ducked as Faith beheaded the thing and then looked behind...

"Again, thanks." I said backing towards the jeep.

I don't like all the company on the battlefield. I had to adjust to team work now and again, but really for the most part my crew was less than four people, because who all do I really need to back up my muscle? A few extra hands are nice, but this is too many necks to watch, to many potential asses to be saving. I see one head go under the crowd, and the distraction is enough to make me miss a fist coming at my face.

The blow knocks me backward and I brace myself to hit the hard steel of the jeep and instead hit a warm body that gives a little, and I look up into Xander's face and smile a little.

"nice catch."

I don't want to say our efforts were pointless...but I can sure as hell think it.

No matter how many of the sons of bitches we knocked down they just kept coming. It felt like for every one i knocked down, two more would step up and take its place. Still, I kept on, managing to keep my footing on the asphalt which was now slick with blood and...well, I don't know the technical name, so I'll stick with 'brain juice'. These things smelled to high heaven when they were in one piece and being torn open just made it worse.

I heard an order being given, but it wasn't from miss i'm-in-charge-now. While I was in a momentary clear I glanced in his direction as he took out some frustration on a manhole grate. Watching sparks fly and then a flame start up I caught notice of the car...and the direction the flames were headed.

Crap...

I gave one final zombie the barrel of my gun through the eye then ran for one of the jeeps already in motion and hopped on.

I don't catch on to the plan till I see the fire. Great. Those two team up, we're bound to get someone killed. Ash screams at the guys who've already got on the truck, and a few stragglers look at me and blink. Most of them couldn't piss without being given the order to do so. I don't waste any time standing there and start running toward the jeep.

"you heard him! RETREAT!" I've aparently translated chainsaw man's suggestion into thier language because they all drop what they're doing and start running for the jeep. I pile on with Xander and notice immedeatley that things are much more cramped. The jeep jerks into motion and I grab the nearest person to keep them from falling off.

Great, I'm doing the mom-arm now. Next thing I know I'm going to be tucking them in.
