On a long enough line the survival rate for everyone drops to zero

You get to a stage were you stop caring about yourself or anyone else. Bruises and bumps don't hurt because you can't feel anything. The world flows around but not through you each day, always one level removed from what's going on. May as well try and catch sunlight or roll up your shadow.
Everything turns to shades of grey as the light leaks out of the world and you start wondering what the point is. You think constantly about the yourself and the spark you don't have anymore. You've become stronger, faster, more productive......and it doesn't mean a thing.
