I've met up with
hecubah on Thursday last week a while ago. She went to a friend near Utrecht the night before, and had to go to Zwolle for the
Abunai Con in the late afternoon. In the meantime, she wanted to head home, but I quickly convinced her spending some time in Utrecht with me easily beats travelling from Utrecht to Sittard and back to Utrecht; with a total travel time of some four hours.
Although I had planned to be there fifteen minutes before she would arrived, I missed my first train due to a lovely breakfast with
cy-v, and missed the next as I wasn't walking quickly enough. Instead of being 16 minutes ahead of her, she'd now have to wait over ten minutes for me. Upon arrival at Utrecht's main station, I walked up the escalator to the main hall and immediately found
hecubah. Apparently, she'd only arrived a few minutes before. Yay for delayed trains! ;-)
We've ditched our bags (she was heavily packed for the Con, I had a drill with me, which I'd be needing later that day. We got
an eco cappuccino from Shakie's and went for a stroll through Utrecht's lovely canal-lined city centre. As we sat down on a bench to finish our coffee, she suddenly though about her collar she left in the bag she put in a locker on the train station.
hecubah was eager to get some more delicious coffee, so we headed back to the station and took a train to Schiphol Airport for a quick visit to Starbucks. I can't remember what she had, but I chose a Tall Peppermint Mocha, no whipped cream, extra hot to relive those times in Berlin. It was the season special back then. We enjoyed our coffee on two of their comfy sofa's, though I regret their lack off two-seat couches. Would've been even more cosy.
After a while we decided to head back to Utrecht, as she still had to buy a sleeping bag for the Abunai con; she'd be sleeping in a tent. Poor her. After exiting the station building, we turned right and walked through the streets of Utrecht, but not even the department store sold them; apparently you shouldn't look for them off-season. After asking around in a few places, someone directed us towards a store opposite the station's exit. We had pretty much walked right alongside of it, yet failed to notice it the first time. Luckily, they did sell sleeping bags and with an added package of night-warmth we continued our quest, which had now turned to a coat for
hecubah. After a shop or two, we noticed it was about time to make our way to the station again, if we were to make it in time to meet up with her friends.
After a quick visit to a joint selling some stuff that should qualify for Döner Kebap, we were soon joined by
hecubah's two friends and made our way to the platform their train would leave from. I said my goodbyes and quickly left after I'd put her safely in the train, as my train was about to leave from the platform opposite, and I got myself a seat supposedly near to
hecubah. As her train departed, she apparently did see me, but I failed to recognize her due to the bloody shaded windows.
My train would now take me to
prrrouw, as my birthday/housewarming present required some preparation, which I refused to do with loads of people present, after midnight. After we had some half-ready-made, half-self-made pizza I started to drill a few holes in the wall for the hooks to fit in. Although two out of the planned four failed as something seemed to be in the wall, she could now fasten her girlfriend to the wall, or be fastened to it. Whatever. =) Before we realized, it was time to head back home, and another two hours later I was home again. Tired, but satisfied. Spending the day with two seperate, lovely girls made me feel so appreciated. =)
This entry took me weeks to finish, hence the while ago at the beginning.
