So I'm on my way back from our girlfriend in the south of the country. Sam and I went there on friday night, after I got of off my shift at work. A 3-hour train ride later, we arrived at her place around 11 pm. We've watched a movie or two, as I quickly fell asleep, tired of a long day of cleaning the house, working one of the most chaotic shifts I ever had and the long trip. I suppose the cold I've got, ensured a slight rhytmic snoring for the poor girls.
We've pretty much slept all through the next morning, only to spend the last of it on getting breakfast at the local supermarket. Nice croissants and italian buns. After breakfast they finished watching the movie of the night before, which they apparently didn't quite see due to some extensive cuddling, and I joined them on watching another one.
By then, it was time to go to Sittard as Sanne had to volunteer at the local movie theatre. We wanted to eat at Subway, but had to choose something different, as it already turned out to be closed. We went next door for some fries, and I've got to say, that was the best snackbar I've been to in a while. The take-out fries were very crisp, and although the place was about to close and they had a sign, stating take-out food is not to be consumed at the tables, they invited us to sit down, and even sold us some ice cream afterwards, although they've already been cleaning up and it was already past closing time. Now that's what I expect from Limburg hospitality.
While Sam sat down at a nearby terrace for a cappuccino and Sanne headed for the theater to prepare for the guests, I went for the 30-minute walk to the nearest supermarket to get breakfast for the next day. When I returned, Sam and I had another coffee before we went to the theater as well.
We watched Caramel in a very cosy setting, suddenly realizing watching rather unknown movies in small theaters, beats seeing big Hollywood productions in regular cinemas. The movie was quite good, depicting the hard times people have, trying to love in Lebanon. Being married rather than getting married, and homophobia are keywords in this. It made me realize how lucky we are, with legalized same sex marriage and a high level of sexual freedom. Even though some people frown upon the three-way bdsm relationship I'm in. I actually can't even blame them for disagreeing with me on that subject, as long as they don't try to interfere with my choices.
Back home, Sanne and I wanted to go to sleep, but Sam convinced up to do some cuddling first.
Today, my alarm went off far too early for my liking, but then again, I did have to in on a 4.5 hour train ride to Alkmaar before I have to work at 2 pm. Although the train ride's usually only 3 hours, due to construction works somewhere along the route, I had to pick between using the train-replacing busses (mind you, I hate motorised road traffic, makes me feel uncomfortable) or being rerouted over Venlo, Nijmegen and Arnhem. Although the detour takes half an hour longer than the direct busses, with only two changeovers, it's much more comfortable. Besides, I'd have to wait at work for half an hour otherwise. So I'm currently enjoying the landscape along the German border, which is most different from the landscape in the west of the country, with slight hills opposing flat drylands. Fortunately, the train's not crammed with other people avoiding the busses on the regular north-south railway.
