To cope with all the necessities at hand last week, I've had to run pretty much all week, which explains why I haven't posted in over a week now. (Except for the little meme I posted the other day, that is).
Last friday, we had organized a barbecue-meeting at our place, for a bdsm-minded forum. At the beginning of the week though, our house was still a mess, but cleaning that up in a week isn't that much of a problem, even though
cy-v would be away for most of wednesday and thursday to visit her gay boyfriend. I had to work on monday only, and attend a meeting briefly on tuesday. However, things didn't quite turn out as planned. On wednesday, I had to stand in for a colleague whom had called in sick, and I had forgotten I agreed to stand in for another colleague on thursday, as her daughter celebrated her birthday that day. To top that off, I wanted to accompany
cy-v on her trip to the other side of the country so she wouldn't have to travel alone and could benefit from my discount card for the shops at the train stations throughout the country. From a full 3 days to clean the mess up, the time-span in which our apartment had to be made representable was narrowed down to a few hours here and there.
So on wednesday I had planned to take her down to Enschede. In the end though, I only accompanied her to Hengelo, letting her travel the last miles alone, as I wanted to go to a grocery store in Hengelo to get me a lunch and had to be back there in half an hour; going along to Enschede would've left me with only 10 minutes to get some food. The grocery store I envisioned in Hengelo was quite a bit further from the train station than I expected, but in the end I did find it, thanks to the nice times I've had in that town together with
poezel. You'd be amazed at how useful seemingly unimportant information on the location of grocery stores on the other side of the country could be! On the way there I noticed a Kaldi shop in a side-street, selling decent coffee. As I'd have to go straight to work upon arrival back in Alkmaar, and wouldn't be off before the shops closed, I decided this was my final chance to get coffee for tomorrow morning; and I could also surprise
cy-v by buying her favorite blend of coffee. :D
So, a pound of coffee, two croissants and two cans of iced coffee later I was heading back to the train station and even had a minute or ten before my train would depart. I'd be taking the international train from Szczecin and Berlin down to Amsterdam, and change there for my connecting train to Alkmaar. From experience I know the compartment seats in one of the carriages are far more comfy than the coach-style seats in the rest of the train, so I positioned myself strategically and managed to get a 6-person compartment all for myself. Yay! In there was a German newspaper with an article on Knut, which I decided to take home after reading to show to Sam. In Amsterdam, there was a notice about an obstruction along the route to Alkmaar, leading to delays and cancellations. My train luckily wasn't cancelled, but it was rerouted via Haarlem, usually leading to a 15 minute longer journey time, which would mean I'd be too late for work. That day however, the train driver managed to keep the delay down to 8 minutes, even with an additional stop in Heiloo, which meant I still had to 2 minutes to change into my work clothes! :D
After work I was too damn tired to get anything done at home, though
hecubah managed to keep me awake until deep in the night on msn. Thanks for that! ;-)
The next day I wanted to clean up before going to work at 0930, but found myself unable to do anything so I went back to bed, getting up at 0900 and hurrying off to my job. That evening, when
cy-v got home we cleaned quite a lot already, and did the last bits and pieces the next morning, finishing up just before the first people dropped in for the barbecue.
The barbecue was quite nice, although I didn't get to talk to everyone there and have forgotten about most of the people's names already. However, the few people I did talk to were nice young people and I'd host another barbecue without hesitation if
cy-v wanted to. Only difference: I wouldn't want to be at the barbecue all evening, but have the folks make their own food and mingle with the people myself. :-) Seeing a few cute subs made me want to play with one too, but only knowing the people for a few hours ensured I was unable to show too many emotions at all. ;-)
Today however, I told a friend of mine about the barbecue, and that it made me want to play with a sub, and she immediately replied with "well, I'm kind of sub". An hour later, we decided we should meet up to discuss what we exactly want. I'd be thrilled if that would work out.
