3 tips to manage end of the year rush

Dec 01, 2020 12:30

With the end of this bizarre year coming, scientists everywhere are busy writing grant reports, finalizing results and vigorously looking for more funding to ensure prosperity in 2021. As this time of the year is busy indeed, I would like to share my tips on how to deal with piles of tasks.

📝 Write all the tasks down. List of chaos, as @Tatiana Smirnova calls it, immediately helps to start organizing the work to do.

✒ Whenever feel worrying, write the thoughts down. A similar trick as the previous one, helps you calm the brains down and switch to rational thinking mode.

❌ Say no. It is easy for professors to dump work on unexperienced PhD students. So, if you are the PhD student, push back. Check every time if this task helps you in the long run, or just turns you into overeducated assistant.

I would love to hear your best tips to cope with end of the year in the comments!
