I don't know if I ever made it "official" here, but I completed OCS and am a 2LT in the Army National Guard. It's been quite an interesting past 5 months to say the least ( Read more... )

Hey Dave, congrats on the ocs gig and the 2nd lieu (loouie that is) promotion. Ok, I'm going into ramble mode. Life being what it is, just that, Life, with all its' directions and paths to take. You'll find thru experience, of which I know from your writings, and ramblings, of what's going thru your head at any given time, a lot of deep thought, and some of the "what were you thinking" thrown in. Been and still there occasionally. Let me rephrase that. I "may have" an idea from the above, vague at that, for it was actually incorrect of me to say a blanket statement like that, but in the things we do, it all happens for a reason. You're imaginative, insightful, silly, nerdy to a point, as we all are, opinionated when irritated, a good listener, and good to listen too when you are comfortable with those around you, you have a lot to say, and a good friend to those of us that have taken the time to know you. You're not as mysterious as some might think, just different, which makes this life interesting, you know all the same yada, yada. You've got a lot on your mind. Sometimes we don't give things a chance, and go immediately into defense mode, only to find out that if you take a minute to listen one would understand better. There are things we should have let go of a long time ago and get on with our lives. How do you do that, when that is the familiar, and the defense or safety mode we know. Yeh new territory I know. A lot of times, I agree with you on this one, that there are those of us in society set up for failure at any early age, which can go way back in a family history for whatever reason, spending a good portion of our lives if not all of it having it drive our lives and how we live. People would say that's how a person is, but at some point, I would like to think, a person would realize what the fears are that have fueled this drive, and are we truly happy in our lives, or only momentary bliss to make those around us happy, and who have had a hand in controling our life, and how can I change them? It takes time, but can be done. I have always believed to strive for your dreams, some may get temporily sidetracked, some may take longer than other, life may put us on a different focus for the same dream, but never lose sight of them. Life is made up of drives and compromises, and sometimes you may find the compromise was the best thing that happened, (again it could be said, falling under that reason thing), While others would say it's not always the goal, but the journey getting there, with all the reflections within. Many angles to the same point. Ok enough rambling for now. Take care, and enjoy the football season. As you say, once a knight, always a knight. Later
