Canoe!

First off, I wanna apologize to Erka. I really wanted to come, but the experience itself was exhausting, followed by an unexpected dinner, then the scenic route my parents took, because they wanted to show us Amish country, and then another hour's drive home. We were complete zombies and passed out.

So yeah, my parents invited us to go canoing. And holy shit it was fun. The water was usually never more than 5' deep so I didn't freak about drowning, but it was really muddy and cold. My parents fell in last year and kept telling us what a horror it was to spend the next 2 hours sopping wet and muddy. But it went fine. It was so damn beautiful and serene. I wished I could have caught some sleep, but you had to stay alert the whole time, or you'd fall into trouble. We took the 9-mile trip, which took about 3 hours. The canoe was way too long for one person to control, so they explained the system to us: the front is power-person and the rear has more steering control.

The best part was actually the "challenges". Like after passing through rapids, the boat would want to turn sideway and crash into the bank and you had to compensate like crazy. The best was a narrow passageway with a log just under the surface of the water. We had to back up and go for the part where the log was deepest to get through. Right after, there was a field of stumps barely sticking out of the water. We made it through all but the last one, which had a split through the middle of it. The blade of our canoe went right into it and we were lodged there for like 10 minutes, trying to figure out what to do. We finally found we could rock backwards sharply and got back down off it. You also had to look for shallow parts of the water or you might hit bottom and get stuck.

Basically, it was just lots of fun. Afterwards my family took us to an Amish-style restaurant, ran by Meninites. I guess they figure the general public can't tell the difference between the two. They kept running out of things on the menu, and my mom had to re-order like 3 times. And they were out of diet soda. They also close at 7pm. So that was pretty "authentic". And damn, it was the best meal I've had in months. It was chicken tenders with the best honey mustard sauce ever, a mountain of curly fries, and sweet potatoes with a caramel sauce that I'd kill for. I know, that's like all junk food you could get at any restaurant, but this food was better. It just was.

Yay, our petition worked and Bell Music emailed Ashlee and changed ours and Akron U's machines to $1 / 5 songs! But I'll let sugoi_sakura tell that story.

Oh yea, the cornfield maze left a lot to be desired. Less like a maze and more like you have one path to take for 5 minutes, followed by an occasional fork to choose. But it was free, so whatever.

What else? Oh yea, wylie should die in a rubber mill fire.
