I can't believe it has been nearly two months since I posted. What has caused me to take the time is a desire to express some thoughts about a football game coming up. But first...
School is going very well, with one exception. I have dropped my French class. One evening I had spent nearly eight straight hours working on the online workbook, when I loaded up the next exercize my eyes just glazed over and I turned to Amanda and told her I just couldn't do it. The amount of work the teacher has assigned as required, I just simply don't have the time to do it plus the work for my other three classes. In my other three, I have solid As going. The only hiccup is that I am one Astronomy Lab behind, but now I only have three left for the rest of the semester including that one. The teacher doesn't seem to care about when you get Labs done, as long as you get them finished. I am also very happy to report that I made a 93 on my first Speech, done last Wednesday. I have my outline finished for my next speech, about the exaggerated claims of health risks of secondhand smoke and the challenge to our liberty represented by government bans. My French class, though, ugh. I really enjoyed learning French at first, but the plodding nature of the work and lack of any sort of feedback wore on me. I looked around the site, and I can't tell whether any of my work was ever graded, except for the online workbook which is auto-graded by the computer. I haven't done any work in the class for at least three weeks, and no contact. Amanda thinks I should complain, but a big part of me just wants to forget about it. I had decided on Economics as my major, at least for now, and if I go for a BS in Economics instead of a BA I will not need the two Foreign Languages anyway. Even if I change my mind and decide on a BA in Economics or another subject, I can pick them up later, at a time when I can physically go to class. Taking an language online probably wasn't my best idea.
Molly is doing well, and this pregnancy is proceeding just fine. Samuel Eugene is a lock for his name. It is truly amazing to watch Molly develop a little more personality each day. I have three new albums, one from ex-Pantera frontman Phil Anselmo's stoner-metal band DOWN, one an online-only pay-what-you-want album from RADIOHEAD. The third in this odd trio is a trippy, laid-back groove-laden side project from Maynard James Keenan called PUSCIFER. I regret none of those purchases.
This Sunday afternoon sees the next chapter of the storied Patriots versus Colts rivalry. It is funny how much as the football season's drama plays out in this game. This year, the Patriots have fully embraced the Dark Side attributes I melodramatically gave them before. First there was the cheating scandal at the beginning of the season, and then the Patriots have purposefully ran up the score toward the end of nearly every game. In situation where other teams would take a knee to run out the clock, the Patriots will continue to run plays to try to score, so that they win by 28 rather than 21. Normally when I team is winning by a considerable amount in the fourth quarter, they will rely mostly on running plays to just try to eat up time off the clock. The Patriots will continue to go for killshot passing touchdowns to Randy Moss. They are playing football like I would play football against the computer in Madden. The Patriots even seem to be as excited about a touchdown that gives them a 35 point lead as a go-ahead touchdown to win a game. The Colts have played solid football, and like the Patriots are undefeated. They are the only unbeaten teams left, after the Patriots crushed the Cowboys a couple of weeks ago. The Colts' defense has played especially well. Patriots' QB Tom Brady is on pace to shatter the season touchdown record of 49 that Manning set a couple of years ago. He has 29 or 30 touchdowns, halfway through the season, and only TWO interceptions. The Colts are definitely the best team the Patriots have played this season, and vice versa, but the Patriots are making every game look like one of those lopsided mismatched college football games. I can't wait until Sunday for the actual game. The Colts have won the last three games, and the game is being played in Indianapolis.
Later!
