Hi there! Glad to have you :D

The short answer is - not yet! We'll be doing invites for people who sign up when the posts go live. For now, watch the comm - sign ups will be opening next week. When you sign up, you join the comm, but til then just keep your eyes open :)

If I might make a suggestion, I'd suggest you just wait to approve all requests to join until you're ready to accept them, instead of rejecting them outright. As a professional who thought this would be a fun side dalliance, I have to say that I don't always have the luxury of being able to join leisure activities like this in a certain window, and if I send a request to join something informal and leisure-time as this is, it's because I may not have the time to do it later. It's no exaggeration to say that sometimes I lose days in time-sensitive work, and sometimes I may not even realise what the date is and what time has passed...to be too strict on time, especially on something that keeps like LiveJournal requests, seems to be terribly self-detrimental.

Our plan is to extend an invitation to everyone who signs up as a fanwork creator, beta, or cheerleader when that time comes around. We're absolutely happy to have everyone watch the community to watch for announcements or see the finished products, but we're keeping the challenge-specific posts locked for people who do sign up, and rather than just approving people beforehand, we'll be sending out invites when we confirm sign-ups. We know that not everyone who applies to join the community is going to sign up as a participant, and not everyone who signs up will remember to join. That's why we have that policy in place. This is the first time this particular big bang has been run, but I've used the same policy in other big bangs that I've run, and have participated in still others that are run the same way. It has always worked out well in those bangs, so we chose to do it here, too ( ... )

However, if they can't sign up before that time comes around, how are you going to extend an invitation to them? It would be easier just to sit on the requests and approve them on the specific time you're waiting for, when the time comes. Perhaps I've overlooked it, but I've not seen a place to sign up that doesn't involve joining...which is why I sent the request.

In any case, my suggestion is something you could consider since many of us who do this professionally get in 'zones' when we're working on a timetable. It doesn't mean at all that you have to approve anyone before the time you'd like, but instead it means that creative types can send their request and not chance losing the window.

Thanks!

Joining the community now isn't the same as signing up. Sign-ups aren't open yet, and won't be until next Wednesday. Sign-ups will be an open post on the community where you state your intent to participate. Anyone is welcome to watch the community, and anyone who does will be able to tell the moment that the sign-ups go live. Joining now wouldn't get you advance notice, and letting the requests sit doesn't usually do anything but make people wonder if their request has been seen by the mods. That's why we sent out a note when we rejected the membership requests - everyone involved knows what the score is, that way ( ... )

Hey there, I just wanted to ask if we do sign up to do a bigbang fic can it be in chapters or is it one continuous story?

It can be chapters if you want, as long as they're all part of a longer story - and it has to be the whole story (you can't stop at the end of chapter 10 because it fits the word count if the story goes past that). You can split the 10k up however you want, as long as it tells a complete story by the end :)

My idea is one long story, it's just going to switch between places and characters so I figured chapters would be best.

As long as all the chapters are posted on your posting date that works fine. :D

Hi! Someone just recommended me to the DC Big Bang today, and I was interested in posting a prompt. Would I need to join the community in order to do so? I might've already tried posting it but it was marked as spam (: Sorry for the inconvenience beforehand.

Sorry about that! You shouldn't have to join or even watch the comm in order to post prompts. LiveJournal often marks comments that contain links as suspicious, but we have unscreened it.

Feel free to watch the comm if you would like to though! :D

Hey there, I tried to sign up but it said my comment was spam? Is that normal or has something gone wrong?

I'm not sure why your comment got marked as spam but I unscreened it so it is now in place where it should be. Sometimes LJ is finicky. Don't worry though we got your sign up!
