Into this night I wander, it's morning that I dread [Jim and Leonard, San Francisco]

It was time to get back.

Leonard was amazed they were allowed to stay away as long as they did before Starfleet called them back. A couple weeks, not long really, but long enough for the three of them to explore what they could mean to each other, if they allowed those feelings to show.

Even so, it had been the three of them, and Leonard knew that Spock missed Nyota dearly, that she would always hold his heart. He was wired differently from Leonard, able to share himself romantically and sexually with more people (Nyota and Carol were his current paramours, he'd exlpained) and there were times that Leonard wished he were more like Spock, able to share his heart and affections openly. Maybe it was more logical to express affection with whomever you pleased, but something old-fashioned inside Leonard knew that he'd never be able to do that for long. Deep down, he needed to be special to someone.

The sun was just starting to peak over head when they pulled into Leonard's neighborhood. Spock said his goodbyes to both of them, Leonard feeling that connection between them still there as he kissed each of them softly, using his lips and his fingers. But then he was gone, off to his other life, his other loves, leaving Jim and Leonard standing in the middle of the street, in front of Leonard's house.

Leonard turned to Jim, hands in his pocket. Maybe it wasn't so strange that it felt awkward now. It shouldn't having spent the past two weeks together at all hours of the day and night, but something unsettling passed between them and Leonard didn't know how to deal with it.

"Want me to take you back to your place?"
