Best friends, first date [Jim/Bones, San Francisco]

Jan 24, 2011 22:01

McCoy could not remember the last time he felt this nervous preparing for a date.

First date, maybe going to pick up Jocelyn for the first time. He'd shown up with flowers and ended up having to treat her roommate for Rigellan influenza before the night was through.

But Jim didn't want flowers. Bones grinned again remembering how he'd woken up that morning on the sofa. It had taken a few moments to remember why he wasn't in his bed, but when it all came back to him, and finding Jim's note - no, it hadn't been a dream. He's fallen asleep holding Jim in his arms like he'd always wanted.

And tonight the courting would begin, a proper date. Looking through his small closet for a nice, clean shirt, Bones wondered what Jim would expect from tonight. They were two grown men, the best of friends. They knew all the small talk one normally did on a date. Bones knew what sort of foods Jim liked, what sort of music he listened to, which way his politics leaned. One a normal day, then often spend a few hours together.

What would make this different?

Already something had changed in his mind, in his step. Being with Jim, so much more than spending time with Jim. And, if he was being honest, wondering where the evening would end.

At least he knew where it would begin. Leonard had reservations set, his credit chip and the keys to Clarkson's car in his pocket. Time to go find his destiny.
