The trial was over. Spock had spent some time with them last night and no one had killed anyone else. The Enterprise was nearly ready to get going again on her mission, and Bones was strangely ready to get back on board.
But they had talked about Sybok the other night, and Bones had been thinking hard on it all day. He really didn't want to let someone else in his head, but the idea of going back into space without some sort of way of blocking Spock was unacceptable.
So he and Jim had spoken to each other about it, and Sybok had been duly invited to their quarters to discuss the situation. Bones was sitting on the sofa nursing a watered-down bourbon and trying to relax.
"This is a good idea, right?" he asked, half-jesting.
