All sorrows are less with bread... [Bones/Sam - galley kitchens]

Mar 15, 2010 12:57

He didn't have to go into work this morning, so Bones moved slower, spending a little time reading, some time picking up their rooms. It was nice, the quiet, a little time to think about everything going on before the craziness of visiting another planet was upon them.

He made himself a second cup of replicated coffee, and stared a while at the machine, recalling the mess he'd made with George's machine. Completely fucked up his attempt at cake, yeah, but as far as he knew, the man still hadn't really celebrated. At any rate, Bones owed him some birthday cake.

He sat and thought about actually making a cake - from scratch, and wondered how hard that would be. Not like brain surgery, right? It was baking. More chemistry than anything else, and he hadn't been the poorest chemistry student in class (unlike physics, which he failed spectacularly, but that was another story...)

Sam had bragged a little once about being a decent enough cook, and Bones thought it might be fun to put that to the test... and he wanted to see him. Talk to him. Spend some time just hanging out, away from work, where things were ridiculously professional, and they talked but didn't talk.

He picked up his datapad and began typing.
