A Momentary Light

This is the best Christmas gift I will receive this year.

I got on the school bus home early today. The bus driver and I struck up a conversation - and all of a sudden, he's telling me his troubles! Do you remember when random people would just open up to me out of no where? Do you remember how much I loved it back then? This sixty-year-old man who was telling me about getting laid off and having to move to a new bus company and how his Dad died and how his lawyer is a jerk... all of this since June, too! It gave me the old feeling, mixed with a bittersweet, melancholy feeling of: Why couldn't it have always been this way? He told me about how the government is out to get everyone to pay taxes, dead or alive, and I was reminded of that being Angela's thought process, too XD

We talked for a good twenty minutes (him doing most of the talking), and I was happy. I was happy to listen.

When I got off the bus, he said: "Merry Christmas, pal!"

And I wish things could have always been like this.

the girls, sad and pathetic, happy, stories, connection, holiday, people
