Pet Front

Today may or may not end up to be a heavy posting day in this journal, because I have a LOT to write about, but I also have very little time at the moment.

The quickest update I can give you is on the "Pet Front". Our cat Little One has been very incontinent lately, and we've been worried about her. So Mom and I took her to the vet. (We got Tim Horton's breakfast on the way - I don't recommend the chicken ranch wrap, it isn't ranchy enough :P The French Vanilla cappacino is good, though, and Mom liked her barbeque chicken wrap). In spite of her bowel issues, Little One has been eating well and hasn't been vomiting as much lately. Still, Mom is worried that it's becoming time to put her down. Dad and I want to be sure she has at least one last time at the cottage with us, though, which we're leaving for in a week.

They took urine and blood samples, and will be getting back to us about it tomorrow. Dr. Sarah was very comforting toward my panicked Mom, and I realized just how much I like our vet. She said that, even if Little One is now wetting herself twice a day, it might be a behavioral thing just as much as it might be a sickness thing. Dr. Sarah has a very soft, girly voice and is very gentle with animals, and I like her. Her husband is someone who works with my Mom, too.

Mom was also worried about whether or not we'd be able to have a new kitten after Little One's death, because my own cat (Ashleigh) tested HIV positive as a kitten. On the other hand, she's lived to be 10 with no sign of being sick. Today, we found out that Ashleigh NEVER HAD AIDS. Since I found out about her testing HIV positive last summer (they kept it from me, because I was in third grade), it's been one of my top fears / concerns. But it turns out that a lot of cats are exposed to diseases, that she wasn't HIV positive, but another disease, and only a small amount of cats have diseases that end up mutating. She's fine. She's not going to die of AIDs. And, Mom is pleased to know, we're open to getting another kitten eventually.

I'm planning on making a "Little One" post, because she's one of the three pets we've had who I haven't made a post about yet. I might do it today, tomorrow, or another day... I was hoping for today, but today has just gotten very busy :P Oh well.

Hopefully Little One will be OK.
