... It just goes to show that no matter how depressed I get, I can always be cheered up by my friends.
Admittedly, nothing special happened today. I basically sat around watching Sailor Moon for the first time in almost a year (I avoided it for a while because of strongly negative connotations). Today, I woke up wanting a fix of it - because, honestly, it connects me to my friends.
I have all sorts of girlfriends and boyfriends, and each of them is special to me. There are ones who I admired and look up to, there are ones who I can tell everything to. But if I focus on all of them, I end up becoming very conflicted and confused about my life. So I have this one main core group of four other girls who I call my "best friends". I have to draw that line, or else. No guys are in this group, no matter how long I've known them (sorry Jera) or how close I am to them (sorry Kieran).
The group consists of Teija, Angela, Larissa and Kelsey. They're my four best friends. Teija, being a fanatic, even assigned us "Sailor Scouts" a few years ago - she's Sailor Moon, Angela's Sailor Mercury, I'm Mars, Kelsey's Jupiter and Larissa is Venus (which may not make sense to some, but does work in some ways, as Venus is the most mature of the group). I reassigned myself to Venus a while back - again, because of negative thoughts and associations - but I'm thinking of switching back. After all, I'm Teija's Mars. Besides, who wants to run from themselves?
I remember watching the lunar eclipse with Teija and Angela a few years back, and being so happy. Teija saying "This day is better than my wedding!", followed by me saying "This day is better than Sailor Moon!" and Teija screaming blasphomey. I wonder if we scared her Grandmother.
Anyway, by default, this song has become one of the songs that reminds me most of this group. What else could it be? It wakes me up physically and spiritually, and makes me feel safe and loved.
