what a wonderful weekend.
really.
i hate that whole 'recounting every moment in blog form so everyone knows exactly what is going on in the fabulous life of DCC because im just so fabulous' thing
but im going to do it.
Thursday night's original plans turned out to be a bit of a bust, but because of the wonderful on-the-spot thinking skills of my friends, the evening was salvaged. it was good to be outside and hang out - felt like summer again.
waking up the next morning to shop wasnt even that bad.. the pros of not drinking and being the "for real" (first time!) DD, i suppose.
oh but shopping is so tedious.. and infuriating
i cite the woman who cut ME off while exiting the restroom. she brushed by me like i was vapor, then when i say, oh, excuse me
she has the audacity to say - brace yourself - YOURE EXCUSED.
seriously, ma'am i was merely going through the manners motions. dont play that game with me.
anywho, when i got home from the excursion, bos was home - which was a major uplifter.
we ended up going to bed early, like we always do, and waking up late.
to celebrate the hot hot sun, we went to kinzua bridge and layed on a blanket for something like 4 hours.
one can never have too much sun.
funny thing: i hadnt actually been to the bridge in about, oh, fourteen years or so. the last time i was there, it was still O.K. to walk out and look off into the valley. i was so excited i ran ahead of my parents to secure the exact spot that i wished to claim as my overlook. while running, my little four year old leg slipped through the gap in wood slats and i slid all the way down to my bum. it was so exhilaratingly scary. yes, at four years old i held the capacity to be exhilarated.
since then, bridges have been the bain of my existence. but in the spirit of easter, i thought maybe i could go back - try to get over that tiny phobia. fuck tornadoes though.. we couldnt even leave the part where the bridge still sits on hard, solid ground. all because the entire middle of the bridge was taken out. what is that?
well oh well.. bos and i listened to modest mouse for hours and hours - we convinced ourselves of their genius, and our own for recognizing it. it was the best day ive had in years.
later, we went out and played drinking games with budweiser pounders. honestly, i didnt think about how much those things annihilate me. but it was a blast anyways.
oh, another funny thing: bos's friend has a fake ID - probably the funniest fake ID i've ever seen in my life. first of all, it was paper. as in computer paper. as in, what? secondly, this girl is probably smaller than boston, if not just barely the same size. so if someone with a brain actually looked closely at the ID and saw that her height was listed as 5'10.. well, one would know that it was a scam. but we went to the riddle house, and its dark and they are borderline completely braindead there, so you know.. we felt confident.
the picture would have worked with any of us, probably the best with me as im the tallest... but bostons friend and i were too nervous. so we send the 13 year old look alike in to do the dirty work
when she came out carrying two brown paper bags, i swear i knew i could die feeling complete.
8 o'clock came around way to fast this morning. i knew i would be hungover, but the whole concept of easter mass with a full belly of budweiser didnt strike the appropriate chord until i was in the shower, swaying from side to side and giggling at my foolishness like a, well, like a fool.
5 minutes before leaving for church, boston and i are taking turns heaving into the toilet as quietly as possible.
we get to mass a tad bit late and realize that, oh my god, all the seats are taken and we are going to have to stand for 2 hours.
isnt that just perfect?
boston goes outside to vomit 3 times. i have to leave after communion and sit in the car. and by that i mean, crouch down in the grass next to Best Western and heave up my existence.
our common goal, however, was to disguise our sickness from mum. not because we are sneaky and didnt want her to know that we were sauced the night before, but because easter is her favourite holiday. she so loves the colours and the flowers and the scent of the air. we couldnt muck that up for her.
so, the game faces went on and we smiled through what we thought, at the time, would certainly lead to a painful and imminent death.
when we got home from mass, bos and i rushed everything together and went to our dad's for a visit/early dinner. we told him about the pounders and he tucked us in for a nap. i slept for 3 hours.
all in all, it was the best weekend ive had in ages.
