Jason Todd of Earth... Lives!

And in the Batcave? Hell is about to break loose.

"How the hell does this thing work? Jesus Christ! Okay... B. If you can hear me? It's J. Can you read me, man?"

Silence echoes for a moment.

"Is this thing on?"

Jason is still trying to figure out the communicator he picked up. It was Dick's. He only knows that due to the colors.

The world is just too loud and too much of everything for Jason right now.

Bruce's head just turned, his complexion white as a sheet. "... What.." he then said, before pulling away from the girls to walk over to the computer console. "Who is this?" he demanded into the communicator. It was impossible, that couldn't be Jason and someone had to be playing a trick.

"B?"

Jason is one confused bird-boy.

"It's J. I don't know what's going on. Am I on a secure line?"

There was a long, long moment of silence as Bruce just looks at the console. With an unreadable expression he reaches out and presses a button, hoping... Within the blink of an eye the screen changes to a map, and brings up a bleeping red dot to indicate the location of the communicator. Coast City ( ... )

"Seven? So it's not..." He breathes loudly. Bruce can probably hear the nervous hitch in that tone.

"I got confused. I thought fifteen years had passed," he confessed as he sunk down low.

"I don't know what's going on. I.... Tell me what's going on. When I come home," he said firmly. He has little flashes of things going on in his head but he can't figure it out yet.

"Coast City is a long way from home, B."

"If all I have to do is go to Coast City to get you home, I'm okay with that." Bruce replied in a tired, exhausted tone to Jason. "You were a hell of a lot farther away than just the West Coast, before. We'll talk. I promise."

Bruce was snapping, and he knew it. Standing up he scrubbed his face again and then looked around the room before he said simply "I'll be back."

And then he was gone, striding towards the Bat Wing.

Jason figures it's just a typical Bruce thing. Bad things had happened. It was obvious.

Really bad things. He's trying to figure it all out still. He can feel his own temper rising like a wave to meet Bruce's anger.

No. Be fair. Jason orders himself to just breath because he has no clue what the deal is.

"I know," he calls. But for a moment he feels like he was too loud. He goes silent and nothing happens so he sighs.

A moment after Jason's sigh, Bruce comes back across the communicator. "This is really hard, on all of us. It's hard on me, it's hard on you. I buried you seven years ago. I've been preaching to the others for a year, using you as an example of when I went terribly wrong. Whatever happened, we'll find out."

"I wasn't sure what had happened." Knowing he had died makes it somehow scarier. How had he come back? Why?

There are too many questions. And that he is the example for others says too much. Was he the screw up? Bruce's biggest mistake?

No. Can't be true. Bruce is coming for him.

"I... guess there are new kids on the block then.," he sucks in a breath then lies. "I look forward to meeting them."

A voice in the back of his head calls him a liar. It sounds like Alfred.

"It was all my fault you died." says Bruce bluntly. "If I hadn't made the mistake that I did, you never would have... left. Because I failed you, you paid the ultimate price. A day hasn't gone by that I didn't think of you."

"Not entirely your fault,B."

Jason isn't smiling but he is faintly amused so he doesn't go crazy. "I sucked at listening. If I got an idea in my head... Don't let that destroy you B. I'm back. Not gonna leave. I'll be more careful."

But his wings are clipped until he's sure he understands the current status on everything. Also has to meet the new kids on the block.

Is he still Robin?

"Just hang tight. We'll talk more once we get face to face." is all that Bruce says. he's not heartless though. he might be in radio silence, but if Jason reaches out, he responds instantly.

To be truthful, Bruce is hitting an emotional coma stage. Too much has happened in 48 hours. He needs time down and a chance to catch his breath.. instead he's flying back to Coast City to pick up one of his lost sons.

Or not at all. Jason isn't like Dick. Dick was always more chatty, as Jason recalls.

Jason is like Bruce though. And too much has happened. On occasion he will say things to remind himself Bruce is there listening.

Bust mostly he watches emergency workers.

If there's trouble while he waits he'll be there.

But strangely the city is silent. This is so unlike Gotham.

It's alien and feels wrong.
