Blackest Night: When ghosts come back to haunt...

Dead. Dick Grayson is dead.

Those words keep echoing through Bruce's head, making him feel crazy(er) than usual. The unthinkable has happened, and even though there was nothing that he could have done to stop it.. It still cuts like a knife through his heart.

The last time Bruce spoke with Dick, they had parted on bad terms. Months ago. While Bruce has focused on trying to organize and pull his family together, he had neglected the one person who should have been standing by his side the whole time.

And now he is dead.

The fact that Jason Todd died at Dick's side isn't lost on Bruce. He mourns for Jason as well, though in some ways not as deeply. Jason has been lost to him for years, and Bruce still mourned that loss - though it was the loss of his teen son and not the adult madman who had taken over his body.

Logically, Bruce knows that if it weren't for the two of them - Dick and Jason both - that Bludhaven would have been destroyed. The details are still coming in, and he has yet to get a clear picture of what exactly happened, but that fact somehow holds no comfort.

Bruce would selfishly rather have his sons than the whole entire city of Bludhaven right now.
