Dreaming…
[Will you be my Girlfriend by TVXQ]
by Solo’s Cry

It was odd; the sweat trailing down the side of his face, cold and distinct against his skin like sharp prickles of electricity. Fading from his mind were remnants of his dream, two tall silhouettes against a white backdrop… hands outstretched and reaching…

Reaching but never reaching far enough.

Pulling himself up, he let his thin white blanket ripple and fall from his glistening chest, his abdomen trembling. What has become of his relationships? His loves… his friends… his enemies?

Yoochun slowly slid across the thin dorm mattress until his feet descended to the warm carpet beneath. The air around him was crisp and cool, enveloping his overheated body like a cold glove.

His previous encounter with Yunho plagued him, guilt gnawing in his gut until he could no longer sit on his bed.

He could not sit motionless when his thoughts gave him such unrest.

Could Yunho see through him? Would he have noticed the swelling mark on Yoochun’s neck? The redness of his lips?

Pulling on a pair of shorts, he shoved his feet into a pair of beaten running shoes.

Would Yunho leave him once he’d figured it out?

Sliding stealthily from the dorm, he began to jog in the cold night air. Jogging had always helped him relax, always gave him a pattern to right his jumbled thoughts.

.oO@Oo.

School was the only place on Earth that seemed like it was an alternate reality. No matter what emotional state its occupants were in, it remained unfazed… bustling with excitement as per usual.

Junsu sat rigidly on a stone bench in the courtyard, his bottom lip receiving brutal treatment as he continued to nibble at it in anxiety. He hasn’t seen Jaejoong all morning; the last he had seen of the boy was the back of his head as he drove away, his red backlights seeming to taunt at Junsu’s nerves. Honestly, the other had disappeared off the face of the planet after dropping him off, a soft confusing smile on his lips.

A familiar arm slid around his shoulder.

He smiled, turning to look at Yunho’s face. He faltered, noticing the taller’s gaze was elsewhere, despite the familiarity of the heat radiating from Yunho’s embrace, the frown marring his features was alien and foreign. He poked him, “Yunho-hyung?”

Yunho grumbled in half-answer, his shoulders lax from his lack of energy.

Junsu’s eyebrows furrowed, poking his senior harder, “Hey.”

Twitching, Yunho sighed, looking over to give Junsu a smile, “Sorry, just… out of it today.”

“No, really?” Junsu elbowed Yunho away and pulled the other’s arm from around him, “I’m not a teddy-bear, ya know.”

Noticing the return of some faraway look in Yunho’s eyes, Junsu slapped him, when he received a loud answering “Ow!”, he spoke, “Earth to Ho. Over. ”

Yunho frowned cutely, crossing his arms before motioning to someone with his head, “What do you think of Changmin?”

Junsu raised an eyebrow, his eyes turning to look the tall handsome body over, “He’s cute. Why?”

Yunho shrugged halfheartedly, “I dunno. Yoochun’s been hanging out with him a lot lately…”

A mischievous smirk pulled at Junsu’s lips, “Ooooh, jealous?” When the other didn’t respond, he nudged Yunho in the ribs with a more genuine smile, “Don’t worry, Yoochun loves you.”

Yunho met his eyes, his Adam’s apple moving as he swallowed nervously, “Do… do you ever wonder if love is enough?”

Junsu stared, the sudden serious turn in their conversation closing his throat, “Ah… well…”

“Of course Love is enough.” Came an abnormally high-pitched reply.

They both jolted in surprise when Yoochun loudly made himself comfortable on the bench on the other side of Junsu, his eyes wide with what appeared to be forced excitement.

Junsu frowned, looking at Yoochun’s shaking hands before inquiring, “Are you alright, Yoochun?”

Yunho looked away from them, his face fighting away his stoniness. When a more cheerful expression made it to his face, he smiled at Yoochun, his tone guarded, “Yeah, are you okay? You seemed like you were in a hurry yesterday.”

Yoochun quickly shook his head, a sheepish grin hiding his nervousness, “Oh no, I had a long night, so I was just sleepy. Sorry about that.” He smiled, a hopeful look crossing his face, “I promise to be back by 10 from now on, ne?”

Yunho eyed him, a smile brightening his features, “You’d better, or else I’m gonna find someone else who abides by the rules.”

Of course, Yoochun knew that Yunho had meant it as a joke, but it didn't stop the stab of horror from entering his heart.

The falter in Yoochun’s smile didn’t escape Junsu’s eyes, before the other boy laughed it off rather anxiously, “Then I’d better shape up fast, ne?”

It didn’t make much sense to Junsu why Yoochun was so nervous, but the way his gaze shifted to Changmin every once in a while cleared things up a bit.

“Junsu!”

Junsu quickly looked towards the other end of the courtyard, his heart pounding at the sound of Jaejoong’s voice. A voice he’d been thinking about all morning.

When the older boy reached them, he stood, a light smile on his face, “Where’ve you been?! I was worried you didn’t make it home last night or something…”

Jaejoong waved it off, his hand moving to grasp Junsu’s shoulder, “I was caught up this morning… make-up test and all…” His gaze shifted to the two on the bench and he backed away, “Ah… hi.”

Junsu bristled suddenly, whipping around to look at the amused looks on Yoochun and Yunho’s faces, he blushed, “I forgot to introduce you guys, this is Jaejoong…”

Yunho smirked, “We know who he is.” He blatantly checked Jaejoong out and smiled, “We’re in the same class.”

“Right.” Junsu cleared his throat, looking at Jaejoong, “Ah… I think we’d better… you know… go… somewhere else…?”

Jaejoong eyed Yunho before quickly answering, his voice distracted, “Yeah, I think we’d better.” He'd promised Yoochun that he'd stay away from Yunho, anyway. And the way Yoochun was glaring at him was scarring enough already. He bowed out quickly, "Nice seeing you."

As the two quickly walked away, Yunho smiled, leaning back comfortably against the wall behind the bench, “He hasn’t changed…”

Yoochun grunted, his eyes not leaving Yunho’s ex-boyfriend’s back, “No… he hasn’t.”
