time for change

Next Thursday, the Higley Road team will be losing a student, Matthew, and will be gaining a new one, Joe. Matthew is an agressive student who, 99% of the time, is an angel. It's been five months since he tried to bite my left arm off. I will never forget that incident, but will never hold it against him either.

I came so close to crying this evening while I was working with Matthew. Tonight was my last night EVER working with him at the residence. I had him during the 7 o'clock hour. We had run a bunch of classes and, before I knew it, it was 7:40. That was about the time Casey came over and asked if Matthew was available. She started dancing with him. After a few minutes, she decided to turn some music on and that's when the real party started. I was also working with Tom, so I got him up and dancing as well. Casey and I took turns dancing with and tickling Matthew. He was laughing with his real belly laugh. I have never seen him so happy before. It just broke my heart to think that I'd never be able to have this much fun with Matthew ever again. When he sat down again, I gave him a big hug. I've never hugged him before. I knew I would miss him, but I never thought it would be this much. The good times most definitely outweigh the bad.

I can't even imagine what the other more "senior" staff are going through. I barely even know him compared to them.
