I remember being young and wishing SO HARD that it would snow, and while I still enjoy a few inches on occaision ths snowstorm SUCKS! Now I know why my parents always wished it didn't snow, primarily because they had to drive in it! We have damn near a foot of snow at our house in SeaTac and the same is for West Seattle.
Maeve and I stayed at my mom's house last night because it had snowed another 2 inches on top of the about 8 we already had and I was scared we'd get stuck coming home and that would just be terrible with Maeve. We wouldn't freeze, but it's already miserable for an adult so it would be 10 times worse with a toddler. Gered had to go home because he didn't have his work cell and wanted to try and go into work today and his work van was at our house. He ended up not working because he got to the end of our block and got stuck. Luckily his job is really understanding, but he had to take a vacation day....blah. At least he has some left!
I was listening to the news while wrapping gifts tonight and they said we are supposed to get another 1-3 inches tomorrow night and into Wednesday, then it may snow again Thursday. I WAS excited about having a white Christmas, but come on now this would make 13-15 inches!!!!! Oy!
The good things are that we're happy, healthy, have food, water and electricity AND a 4 wheel drive truck with tires that were made for snow and mud. Gered has been having fun helping people who are stuck, he's so funny on what makes him giddy. Silly boys and there snow. I am glad he could help some people out though. He even took his co-worker to his newly purchased home in Federal Way to get all their Christmas presents they brought over there thinking they would have Christmas in their new home, but they can't move yet because of the weather.
Church has also been cancelled the last 2 weeks, I hope it's not cancelled on Christmas Eve! That's my favorite service of the year. It's at 10 pm and it is all Christmas songs and the story of Jesus's birth. Then we turn out the lights and light little handheld candles and sing a few more songs. It's so traquil and quiet.
Merry Christmas and I hope the snow melts soon!!!!
snow,
snow and more snow
