- Australia's first female PM not being a five-week-wonder. The election resulted in a hung parliament (neither of the major parties got a majority), so it was down to the independents to decide who to back. After 17 days, the government (Labor) got the support it needed. It's slim, but it's there.
- Generations Drift. Ignore the comic character and focus on the toy. He might be another sports car TF, but robot mode is very nice, particular as he comes with THREE swords and can store all of them at the same time. I'm not kidding. It's a very good translation of the comic design into a toy. If you haven't gotten any of the Generations toys yet, Drift is a very good one to start with.
- Scott Pilgrim Vs The World. You seriously need to go see this film. The video game references which inform the story may be lost on some, but at the same time it's not like this would ruin the film. It's very well done, very funny, and very creative. It basically translates the visuals of the comics onto the screen, but it's not simply like how Watchmen recreated panels from the comic books. Things from the comics, like boxes introducing people, are put on screen but are also used in a way that makes them work within the cinematic medium. I saw this at the end of a crappy week (also on the same day I got Drift), and it was exactly what I needed to cheer up. See it.
