TV Show Meme Day 17 + random
I've been reading stories on mental_floss this morning about random acts of kindness. So, flist, what's the nicest thing a stranger has ever done for you? The comments are definitely worth a read, and some of them are amazing.
Day 17 - Favorite mini series
I'm not sure this counts as a mini series, but it originally aired in two parts, so I'm going with it. I Know My First Name is Steven is one of the most heartbreaking movies I've ever seen. It's the true story of a kidnapped 7-year-old Steven Stayner who was finally reunited with his family seven years later. As sad as the movie is, it's really the story that continues after the movie ends that makes it all the more tragic.
In 1980, Steven Stayner attempted to escape from his captor, Kenneth Parnell when he abducted a 5-year-old boy, Timmy White. They were both reunited with their families. However, Steven was killed in a motorcycle accident in 1989, and Timmy, a police officer, died suddenly this past April.
Steven's brother Cary was convicted in 1999 of the murders of four women around Yosemite National Park, and is currently on death row.
It's all just so sad.
