long overdue...

Feb 22, 2006 09:52

so, i havent been good about keepin up with this journal thing lately. so, here is an uber brief summery:
baby moves, brandon felt it the first time the other night during a movie. it can now be felt from the outside. i've felt it inside for a few weeks now. the movie was Chumscrubber, and i think many of you would apprieciate this flick. i get an ultrasound on the 10th and i will hopefully know the sex then. currently i like Miles Warren, and Lucy Elaine... but i kinda like Lilah Elaine too... like Delilah only no "De". and Chloe Nicole is still in the running. who knows.
Brandon was offered a job in Slidell. he has called it a "dreamjob" in the past and seems like he really wants to work with that firm. its called 3001 and they happen to have a little branch in poor destroyed Slidell. i would LOVE to move home with baby, and unlike so many poor slidellians, we would have a house to live in in just 2-3 mos. my mom's rental house is close to being dealt with finally and all it needs is some sheetrock, floors, cabinets and a roof. but the roof isnt imperative and she has a contractor so i looks like it will be up and live-in-able soon. mom kinda put a rush on it since she knew brandon and i may need a place to stay if he got the job. there are pretty much no rental spaces in any of the areas effected by Katrina. from mandeville/covington southeast to like georgia basically. everyone is still displaced for the most part and if you get a place to live its cause you know someone. so, we would be in a fema trailer, yay, for about 2-3 mos. before we got in the house. kinda sucks, but its better than what alot of people have goin for them, and it'd only be temporary. i just dont wanna be 8 mos. prego in a fema trailer still. good news is, i can make more money starting as a grunt at any retail store of my choice for way more pay than it took me to earn as a manager over 4 years at Earthly Concerns. people who are in the Dell are gettin paid out the ass to keep these buisnesses running. so, thats nice.
my current landlord is tryin to screw us. they sent me a notice on the 15th that rent would be goin up $125 for march and that i need to come sign a new 12 month lease if im staying. our lease was currently a month by month lease and we paid $525, and it was a steal. but they also said that if we dont stay we need to give them 30 days notice. WTF?! i get less than 15 days notice about a rent increase and a new 12 month lease and they expect 30 days notice if i leave?! FUCK THAT! so, johnny and i have like 6 days to haul all our shit out. im bringing the bulk of it to Plaquemine to Brandon's house and pitching the rest. the original plan was for me to switch the lease to johnny's name and then move in with brandon so i didnt have to keep payin rent and could save for baby. but then with this rent hike, johnny has decided to go so now we are in a pinch. i was gonna take most fo my shit and leave the rest for awhile so johnny could actually have furniture. but now it seems it all must go. and 99% of the stuff is my stuff. i htink johnny has a desk and some clothes and junk. but he uses my spare bed, and my spare couch. and everything else, with the exception of some of the kitchenware is mine. what a pain in my ass. also, brandon works all week and im not allowed to lift stuff right now. so, its even worse cause i have to rely on others to do my furniture moving and they are few and far between with work scheduels and this being such short notice. we were actually hoping to do alot of mardi gras this year but it looks like this weekend is pretty much shot. hopefully *fingers crossed* the moving will be complete on friday and we will still have saturday, sunday, and lundi and mardi gras for fun. BLEH!
i need to plan Amy's wedding shower for April 1st or 15th in slidell, and then her Bachelorette party in NOLA the same weekend. problem: no one has a house in slidell, and the chance of finding a hotel in NOLA is slim. i guess God wanted me pregnant for this so i could be designated driver. :) i also need to figure out what to do about this belly and a bridesmaids dress... should be intersting.
oh, speaking of, jeff wise is marrying jessie steelman. how much does that blow everyone's mind??? yup the former mrs. chris pere (jeff's former best friend all through life) is now marrying jeff. i guess they are happy. who knows. i was invited to jessie's surprise shower this sunday by jeff's mom and i'm going. they will be married the following weekend... kinda quick, i know, but they arent pregnant, cause i know you were wondering. haha!
what else.... hmmm.... pregnancy makes you clumsy and forgetful. no preventive measures can control this.
oh, i went to las vegas for work, a week after i got back from NY for work, a week after i got back from ATL for work. i will miss that part of my job if i have to leave. ATL was a jewelry show. same old stuff. NY however was awesome! It was a jewelry show too, but way cooler. mom always wanted to go to NY and since our alaskan vacation was totally screwed up by Katrina, mom came along. i already had a free room and all my expenses were covered by work, so it was gonna be a resonably cheap minivacation for mom and i. i only worked three morning/afternoons and then we galavanted around manhattan all evening and almost all day the last day i was there. we packed alot of neat stuff in which is easy cause everytime you turn a corner in manhattan you encounter something cool. mom was so happy. it was nice to get her out of slidell for awhile and see her mind off Katrina repairs. brief overview: empire state building, soho, greenwich village, NYU, real NY pizza, times square, RENT, THE PRODUCERS, penn station, madison square gardens, central park buggy ride, broadway, gucci, versace, loui vuitton, tiffany and Co., trump tower, carnagie hall, rockafeller center, F.A.O. Schwartz toy store complete with huge floor piano (we got baby's first teddy bear :) ), and sax 5th ave. ON 5TH AVE!!! i even got the t-shirt. some pics are on my myspace page.
Vegas was a shoe market. it was a first for me and i went with my favorite coworker, Ste. we lucked out, the tickets to fly home after market was over were more expensive than staying another day and night with nothing to do. so, we did vegas! tons of casinos, tons of excess, tons of fun... on the bosses tab. i got to eat lunch at the quark bar on the Starship Enterprise... yes im a dork. i got to lose $20 on video poker, and big six. big six is the wheel in fear and loathing that hunter spins and says, "spin the wheel, make me rich, make me very, very, rich... doh! life is disappointment". i kept thinkin of that movie time and time again as i passed all these people who were obviously drunk off vegas fumes. i cant believe i had to be sober in las vegas. i so wished greg was there with me and i wasnt prego. we would have gotten into soooo much trouble. but we did splurge and go see a show one night. "Jubilee" at bally's casino. it was head dresses, feathers, rhinestones, boobs, dancing, singing and amazingly flashy. i loved it so! we got VIP seats and could see the sweat drippin off of foreheads. it was amazingly fantastical. i heart vegas. i really hate casinos, but this was something else. i really enjoyed it.
now im home and things are stressful. i dont know where im gonna be living in 2 weeks, i dont know what job brandon or i will have in 2 weeks, i dont know how im gonna plan a shower and bachelorette thing, i dont know what dress im gonna have to get for the wedding, i dunno what the plan is with mardi gras now,and im having a baby. lot o' stress. oh i know what i wanted to say when i decided to write this... everyone i know is having a funk right now. some sort of bad news, or general dismay with life recently. whats up with that? are the stars goin nuts or what?! i hope everyone out there is doing ok, and if you arent, hang in there. i love you guys. :) <3 Aslyn
