“Hey did ya catch the new family? Looks like they’ve got a daughter a few years older than us.” Arielle said leaning over and whispering in Lindze’s ear.
“No shit. Dad told me about them already, from Minnesota supposedly. Don’t know why’ they’d move here. The girls 17 I think.” Lindze replied without even looking up from her notebook which she took with her everywhere.
“So, you’re not even going to look at her? She looks Goth like you.” Crystal butted in, from the other side of Arielle.
“For fucks sake! I’m not Goth, I’m me, and me is sometimes labeled punk. Not Goth.” Lindze replied, finally looking up from her note book and raising her voice at Crystal.
From the pulpit her father cleared his throat; Lindze looked up and gave him a small smile that got her out of everything. She looked over to where Arielle had been pointing previously to see dread locks. She couldn’t see any part of the girl’s face, so after a few minutes she gave up looking at her, and went back to her writing.
“So?” Crystal asked, nudging Lindze with her elbow.
“So what?” Lindze replied.
Crystal sighed and sat back chatting with Jessie on her other side.
After church was over, Lindze decided to try and get a better look at the girl. She made her way through all the older people surrounding the family, straight to the girl. When she saw her, the girl was leaning against the wall, arms crossed, and staring blankly at the floor.
“Hey, what’s up?” Lindze said walking up and standing next to the girl.
The girl sighed. “Nothing much. Just waiting to get out of this hell hole.” She said, both girls started giggling at the statement.
“Yeah, it sucks here, but still under parents rule and all. Have to do what they say.”
“Yeah. Oh, sorry, I’m Adrienne.” She said reaching out her hand. “But my friends back home called me Adie.”
“I’m Lindze, the fucking preacher’s daughter. Nice to meet you.” Lindze said taking Adrienne’s hand and shaking it.
“Ohh, sucky.” Adrienne replied, making a hissing sound.
“Gotten used to it. Hey wanna ditch this place? I can take you home if ya want.”
“Sure your dad won’t mind?”
“Fuck no; he’ll be glad I’m getting to know the new girl.”
“Okay, lemme get my stuff.” Adrienne said walking over and getting her purse, telling her parents that she was riding home with the preacher’s daughter.
Lindze walked over to her dad and told him the plan. He quickly agreed. Adrienne came walking up and linked arms with Lindze, giggling for no reason.
“Bye dad.” Lindze said walking out of the church with Adrienne on her arm.
The walked out to Lindze’s small, lime green, VW Bug, getting in. Lindze turned the car on and immediately Green Day, American Idiot came blasting through the speakers.
“You like Green Day?” Adrienne asked looking almost amazed.
“Yeah, shouldn’t everyone?” Lindze replied giggling.
“Of course!” They both burst out laughing.

Soooo? This is mainly for Dru, since she wanted
me to write it. This is also only the first chapter.
