I had my dental cleaning appointment yesterday, which I always dread because they often find a cavity. This time however there was a new dental hygienist, and the appointment was kind of unusual. She definitely did things differently to the previous one. I know I was due for x-rays, but no x-rays were done and she didn't check for cavities either, which well... I'm not going to complain about lol. If my teeth are not checked for them, they were never there. :P I'm not really having pain though.
A new tool was also used on my teeth. Some kind of electric scraper? It sounded a bit like the drill. I don't know what the heck it was, but she used it on my teeth. It didn't hurt, but a couple times the sound was shrill in my ear and I didn't like that much. It was also difficult to keep my head turned to the right for an extended period of time. I have enough neck and shoulder pain as it is. But that was the only bothersome thing. She did regular scraping afterward, but she was much less aggressive than the other hygienist, which I appreciated. Then it was just a polish and floss and I was done. Like I said, if she wasn't going to check for cavities, I wasn't going to worry about it lol. I wasn't going to come back for six months. My mom, who also had an appointment the same day, had a slightly different experience than me. The electric scraper or whatever wasn't used on her. If it had been, her soul would have left her body because she has an extreme fear of the sound of the drill. The hygienist also checked her gums, but she didn't for me, so again I don't understand the different experiences we had, but whatever. I'm happy it's over.
The other topic I wanted to talk about is show related. I finally started X-Men: The Animated Series, and so I want to give my first impressions. Technically, it's more than first impressions now because I'm over half-way through the first season already. What I know about the X-Men mostly comes from the movies and also X-Men: Evolution, which I watched back in the day and really liked. Though that one was more of a reboot. I never saw the original animated series though. So far, I think it's kind of campy, but in a good way lol. For some reason it reminds me of The Transformers cartoon, and I couldn't figure out why, but now I think I know. It's the animation (and some of the cheesy lines), but the animation for both shows was done by the South Korean company AKOM at least in part, if not most of the animation was done by that company. They actually animated quite a few shows from my childhood in the 80s and 90s. To be perfectly honest, the animation is not that good. It's quite cheap looking with some animation errors, but it doesn't bother me that much.
The voice acting is hit or miss for me. It took some getting used to Xavier's voice because I'm used to Patrick Stewart being him lol. Plus he's not English, he's American. My favorite characters so far are Gambit and Jubilee. Jubilee really should have been a main character in the movies because she's a big deal. The show started with her after all. Maybe when Marvel Studios finally reboots the X-Men, they'll bring her in. I can also see how the movies have taken some of the story beats from the show, so that's been interesting. Wolverine's attraction to Jean is even more extreme than the movies though lol. Despite my critiques, which are more like nitpicks that don't matter too much to me, I'm having a fun time with the show. Also, X-Men '97 just dropped on Disney+ a couple days ago, so I'm looking forward to getting into that once I'm done with this. I've heard good things already.
