So, I called that lady back who called me on Friday. She wasn't actually an employer. She was with some business office that works with employment agencies. She told me she looked over my resume and asked me how I heard about the file clerk position. I told her my job developer had sent me the position. She asked me if I worked with the job developer a lot. I said yes and then she said that I'm not supposed to put the word "I" in my resume. My personal characteristics is written as a short paragraph about myself and I guess I wasn't supposed to write it that way. So, then she told me that she could send my resume to the employment agency for the file clerk position and see what they think. She told me she would just remove the personal characteristics section of my resume and send it to them that way. Then she told me she would send my resume back to me as well, with that section removed.
You would think with these people working with me, they would know what's correct in a resume and what's not. I've had to change it a lot of times.
So, I emailed Heidi back, telling her what the call was about, and she told me for the future I should have called the lady back as soon as I got the message. Duh. Also she told me to fix my resume with those changes and send it to her. I decided I would change my personal characteristics to be in a list format without using the word "I." Heidi further changed it because she noticed there were spelling errors. Really? You notice this now after how many months? Of course I should have been using spell check. I've been forgetting to use it. Oops. Now I have two copies of my resume, the one with the personal characteristics changed, and the one with that section removed entirely. I don't know which version would be the best to use if I apply for another job in the future.
Anyway soon after that, I got another phone call from the employment agency that the woman forwarded my resume to. New lady on the line. She asked me some questions about what I did at my previous jobs and then told me she'd let me know if they have something for me (for that file clerk position I assume.) So it's another waiting game. Time will tell if I'm called for an interview. I feel skeptical lol.
