The Goose and the Cockroach

Got through my first couple of days at my new job. Finding it good so far. I do some of the same stuff I was doing at ABM, like data entry, filing and making labels. Only thing is I find myself waiting a lot for Amber, whom I work for. When she gives me a task and I finish it, I go to her and she'll tell me she'll find something else for me to do and get back to me. Sometimes I'm waiting for quite a while. And also I go to work at 1pm, when she may not yet be back from her lunch break. Yesterday, I was waiting nearly a half hour for her to show up. I mentioned these facts to Cheryl, who spent a little time with me on both days, and she said maybe once I get used to what I'll be doing at work, I won't be waiting as much. She also recommended I bring a book with me, so I'm going to do that next time. I don't really have a problem with that.

On the first day there was this goose sitting right outside the door (because they leave the door open). It was one of those Canada Geese. I remember the time where I hardly ever saw Canada Geese. Now I see them all over the place. It found a nice shady area to sit. It could have easily come inside too, but I think Amber was making sure that didn't happen. Then the next day there was a cockroach in some files Amber gave me to sort through. She got all jumpy and got a guy to take care of it. All I could think of was Horatio, from my story. He was paying a visit lol. Amber said I was brave and she wouldn't get that close to it.

They also have the radio on, on a station that plays great music (including Michael Jackson :)) So, it's nice to work and listen to music. I don't have to dress in business clothes. It's a casual and laid back environment. Although, their idea of a break room is a joke. There is no real break room. Just a small area with cabinets, a dishwasher, and microwave sitting in between the bathrooms, and no trash can to be found. :S But other than that, I've been enjoying it. Yesterday I got to do some researching online, which was great because I really enjoy doing that.

work, music, job, michael jackson
