The other day I finished Sherlock Holmes and the Secret of the Silver Earring. Pretty good game, but I think I enjoyed Frogwares later Sherlock Holmes games better. Also there were a few things that drove me crazy with this game. The pixel hunts, the linearity (you absolutely had to click and look at every single thing before you can move on), and a couple of timed and stealth sequences. In one such sequence you had to escape from this dog and a guard and not let them see you. It was really hard. And like I said, I almost went insane. Then in another part you had to fill up a bucket with water and put out a fire under a certain amount of time. The bucket was close to the fire, but was the water? Hell no! So I had to run around the forest trying to find this pond of water, which is as far from the fire as you could get. I had to consult a map and pause it to make sure I went the right way and got back to the fire in time. I managed it, but I sure didn't like that part either. Overall too the story was kind of boring to me compared to the other Sherlock Holmes games. I think it's because I like crossovers. Sherlock Holmes and Cthulhu, and Arsene Lupin, and Jack the Ripper, made those games more entertaining. But regardless, I think Sherlock Holmes and the Secret of the Silver Earring was still a decent game.
Now I went to Best Buy and picked up The Whispered World. I had played the demo of this game and after playing it, I immediately wanted it right away. But of course it wasn't out yet, but a couple days ago I found it, so now I'm starting on that one. This is a really gorgeous looking game. It's great for escaping into. I get the feeling this will be a classic and a new favorite for me. Take a look at the gameplay video I did for the demo
