We went to Best Buy yesterday to inquire about my laptop to see how things are going. So, apparently the reason it takes so long is they have to wait for parts to be delivered. The guy there couldn't (or wouldn't) say what was actually wrong with my laptop, but he said it should be a couple more days. I'm getting tired of waiting, but I guess I'll hold off a little while longer.
We also picked up the remake of The Day the Earth Stood Still on Blu-Ray only because it also came with a copy of the original movie. It probably wouldn't have been worth it other wise.
Then, we went to the bookstore. I got my very first audio book, which is Peter Pan by J.M. Barrie, narrated by Tim Curry. I mentioned before how on my fantasy book club we were talking about audio books, and people were mentioning how Tim Curry had done a lot. Peter Pan is really the only one I could get though, so I got it. I haven't even read the book, let alone listened to an audio book before. My mom and I were listening to it in the car. Tim Curry is a great reader of course. :) We're keeping it in there to listen to whenever we drive someplace.
I also got The Amulet of Samarkand by Jonathan Stroud.
BTW, I did watch The Godfather yesterday and it was awesome! I want to see the sequels now. Still obsessed with the mafia/organized crime in general. I'm probably going to try to get my hands on more movies. Haven't seen a whole lot. I saw Goodfellas a little while ago, which I also loved. It's fun to root for bad guys! It's also one of Carl's favorite movies. He actually recommended it to me, that and Natural Born Killers, which I still haven't seen. But, heh Carl's into some pretty hard core stuff. His favorite band is Slayer. Another good mob movie my mom said is The Untouchables. I actually almost convinced her to buy it at Best Buy, but she decided not to.
Heck I've been going crazy looking up organized crime stuff on Yahoo Answers. I don't actually use Wikipedia. Yahoo Answers is my preferred method for going into obsess mode.
We have the Mexican Mafia here in California, but it's really bad in Mexico, where they've been kidnapping American tourists. Also, it's more like one huge gang, and not very organized at all.
Anyway it's interesting how the Italian Mafia will probably never die out because the economy depends on it.
I think I'm probably most interested in how modern organized crime operates in the world today because I'm sure it's a lot different than how it used to operate, considering how the FBI really attacked it.
This is all very fascinating stuff. :)
