Not sure where in my upbringing to blame more, Japan or the Midwest
For most of day, I seriously planned not ask my relatives if their dog had its rabies vaccinations up to date, because I didn't want them to know it had bitten me, because then they would be worried and probably make a big deal out of it and feel bad about it.
THEN I REALIZED THAT I WAS INSANE.
Edit: I apologize if the wording above was unclear, and it sounded like I hadn't told them yet. I told my cousin, and he said yes, she has had her vaccinations. I will check with his mom tomorrow in case there is some kind of language barrier. The dog had to leap up to do it, so the wound is basically a few shallow scrapes along on my index finger; I flushed and disinfected it right away, and have since done so again according to the advice I received in the comments. Thanks for all your concerned and help, and sorry if the unclear wording freaked you out more than was warranted.
