The Trip Back
I overslept my alarm, which I set for 5AM. I got up at 7. Threw myself together and hit the road around 9. Got to the rest stop near Battle Creek and called the police. I waited for two hours, but they didn't come. I discovered later that they called me, and somehow I missed the call.
Then I got back on the road again. I stopped for lunch at a Denny's in Kalamazoo and had biscuits and gravy with chicken and eggs. It was huge and very filling.
I only had a short stretch of stop-and-go traffic. Nonetheless, I arrived at my aunt's house a little after 7 PM. Mom said to return the U-Haul in the morning, and I agreed. Unloaded the U-Haul. Mom wanted DoorDash from Noodles and Company. We ate, and then I inflated the air mattress and went to bed.
I woke up at 5:30 AM. My plan is to call the police person later to make a report over the phone. And then return the U-Haul.
