Mom seems more chipper this morning.

My aunt's nephew suggested that I rent a U-Haul and hire some guys at either end to wrangle the entertainment center. I'm considering it. It would certainly be a lot cheaper. One question though is how we would get it out with all the furniture in the living room.

Cleaned my aunt's bathroom after running around the house looking for cleaning supplies. Mom said that it smelled good :) (I told my mom that Auntie was going to haunt me because I probably put her stuff back in the wrong order.) I'm taking care of the house chores while Mom gets organized. Hmm, my next task is a shower. I didn't entirely think this through.

Another thing that my mom is doing that is driving me nuts is not putting her hearing aids in and complaining that she can't hear me. (Sorry for the venting, but it helps.) Apparently, they aren't holding a charge well.

Got garbage and recycling out, of which there was a ton. I hope that the garbage workers pick everything up.

I thought Mom had given the idea of cleaning the house up. She hadn't. So she dusted the furniture in the living room and cleaned the refrigerator. I cleaned the rest of the kitchen and mopped the floor and vacuumed the office and hall. The last thing will be vacuuming the living room, but I need to load the car first. Right now, Mom is upstairs going through stuff in the storage space. I need to stick around in case she falls or something. It's 5:15 and counting.

Mom is insisting on going through every single box in the place. I might look patient, but my insides are stressing. I ordered Door Dash because it's now dinnertime, and Mom is still going through boxes.

Mom was dismayed by now little we could fit in the car. I said that we should rent a van for the second trip.

We left around 9:30 PM. My GPS kept on routing me to the dreaded Dan Ryan expressway, so I wound up driving it. Another Chicago phobia bites the dust. Mom said that she wanted to go well into Michigan before we stopped, and I was dismayed by that, but we made good time. We stopped in Kalamazoo.

But the first hotel we stopped at was full. Luckily, there was room at the next hotel that we tried. But the beds were too high for Mom. There was a window seat that she decided to sleep on with her legs dangling down. Her problems with her legs really suck.

I had problems falling asleep. But Mom had a really bad night. She couldn't sleep and wound up on the desk chair. Apparently, I was snoring, which didn't help. I let her sleep while I loaded the car.

I drove part way but was getting sleepy, so I napped for an hour in a rest stop. It helped. And now we've arrived safely at my mom's house. I'm sitting in my mom's gazebo in her back yard for a while. There's something about getting out in nature, even in a back yard, that's so relaxing.

I unloaded part of the stuff from the car. We ordered pizza for dinner. Mom is going to crash, not surprisingly. I need to do laundry and do likewise. No, I'm just going to bed and will do laundry in the morning.

Mom's house has piles of stuff everywhere. I'm worried that she needs help. Also, the Secretary of State had scheduled a driving test while she was in Chicago because of an accident that she was in. So they suspended her license because she didn't show up for the rest. So she needs to get that straightened out.

I slept for 12 hours. I got up, and Mom said, "Oh thank God". She's worried about my getting an early start, but I needed the sleep. I've decided to take the southern route through Dayton and Indianapolis to avoid Chicago traffic.

Something kind of humorous happened. Mom took my aunt's mirror, and it was wrapped in bubble wrap and put in a box. We were worried that it would be heavy to pick up. I asked Mom if she had a handtruck, and we took it out of the garage. The mirror turned out to be light and easy to pick up. I got it into the house.

I loaded the car and said goodbye to Mom. She said that she couldn't have done it without me. Then I took off.

I made it through the twists and turns off Toledo and am stopped at a Waffle House in Bowling Green, OH. The waffle was very good.

We ran into some really heavy rain outside of Dayton. The car ahead of me turned on his flashers and slowed way down, which seemed like a good idea, so I did likewise. Orherwise, the rain wasn't too bad.

And now I'm home. The cats were dubious, but Zara's been on my lap a couple of times. I'm going to set up my computer and crash. Mimi is now on my lap.

chores, zara, mom, travel, cleaning, moving stuff, mimi
