Thankfully, no actual creepy garbage bag faces.

Two posts back to back with the same icon! Oh, how much that bugs me, but I sorta have to right now because we need to talk. Let's face it, this Tumblr shit is fun (you should have read the first, second, and third draft! restraint is so lol), but I'm still dealing with the, you know, FEELINGS.

(What a terrible subject line! Gosh.)

HOLY MOTHER OF GOD, SHOW.

I want to know what this writers' retreat pep talk was like for this particular room, because I know we're only two episodes in and yet this season is already weirdly, infinitely better than the first - and I can't quite figure out why! Like, I sort of can. It's as if they looked at the mess of 20 years of potential canon and finally found the voice of whatever patchwork characters they decided they wanted to be writing about. "We have this character and we want to tell _____ story: which episodes can serve this purpose the best?" I am in love.

BECAUSE GUESS WHAT YOU GUYS: JAMES DID IT ALL FOR ALESHA. THAT HAPPENED, NO DOUBT ABOUT IT. She knew it; he maybe sort of knew it, but wasn't really in a position to want to talk about it, but it happened. I kept STARING INTENTLY at my Macbook waiting for the scene where Alesha is all, "Dude, STOP," and it never happened - in true Law & Order fashion, it was simply a bunch of looks and then someone (Alesha) deflecting the conversation by suggesting dinner because he's been Mr. Grumpypants for the past month or whatever it's been.

(She WANTED him to get all obsessed and single-minded? Clearly James cannot be the only person who feels aaaaaangst about not convicting that rapist that one time, considering it was Alesha that - that - thing was done to. Yeah.)

Speaking of:

Did I watch that last scene a couple dozen times trying to figure out if this dinner invitation was new, or simply another in a long line of "also you haven't bought me dinner in a month because WE ARE DATING but you are WORK OBSESSED LATELY" conversations? Um. Possibly? The jury is still out.

(!!!!)

(Also: again, please give Harriet Walter something to DO. Her allying herself with James 110% on nailing this dude to a wall was nice albeit completely consistent with original episode so also not so nice. Tell me why, show. Tell me why. There was one point in which I half-exected her to corner James in a hallway and make him admit what this was actually about, but whatever.)

Honestly, next week is the re-do of "Pro Se." I just- that. Plus Bones S6 premiere. Plus Community premiere, which I don't know but I feel will be an epic Betty White Bones joke. Plus It's Always Sunny. THURSDAY TELEVISION: WHAT IS YOUR GAME RIGHT NOW.
