SV Alums Doing Stuff..
~Brian Peterson brought coffee for fans (like moi) who waited in line overnight for the SV panel at Comic Con in 2010 so I think he’s a good egg, but I still don’t like the fact that he and Kelly Souders have joined the writing staff of “Beauty and the Beast” as co-showrunners.
The two will share showrunning duties with “Beauty and the Beast”s executive producers Jennifer Levin and Sherri Cooper. Coffee or no, this is the team that gave us mindwiped!Lex, Chloe as hero despite all of her major faults and a weak major villian of S10 (how can you ruin Darkseid??) so I can’t say I’m happy about it.
*Bryan Q. Miller has announced that his Smallville Season 11 comic will introduce Batman and Nightwing to the “Smallville” universe. In this ‘verse Nightwing is Stephanie Brown, former Batgirl instead of Dick Grayson, former Robin. Stephanie is a character near and dear to Bryan. He wrote her title-fantastically, I might add-until DC’s new 52 mucked things up.
In an interview with Comic Book Resources he talked about how the Batman/Superman arc will be like a buddy movie. He also talked about the mystery (to me) about why they changed Dean Cain’s character Curtis Knox from Vandal Savage. I just thought it was one of those random SV changes, but at the time Warners had a Vandal Savage project in development so they couldn’t use the name.
*The second season premiere of “Wilfred” was on Thursday night. The episode featured Allison Mack briefly (along with Rob Riggle, Steven Webber and Robin Williams) but in coming episodes you can see more of her as she becomes Ryan’s (Elijah Wood) new love interest. The show airs on FX, Thursdays at 10:30pm.
Allison was interviewed by TVLine about her role.
One thing that Matt Mitovich pointed out in his interview was that the ladies of “Smallville” were owning Thursday nights: “Beauty and the Beast” will be on Thursday nights, “Saving Hope” airs at 9pm and then Allison in “Wilfred”.

*Michael Rosenbaum went to a signing in support of the videogame he voices “Lollipop Chainsaw”. Directed by Rosey’s friend James Gunn, , the well-reviewed “Lollipop Chainsaw” follows Juliet a chainsaw wielding zombie killer as she tries to save her school and neighborhood from the zombies. Rosenbaum voices her decapitated boyfriend.

*Caught the two episodes of “The Firm” (based on the film that first featured a long ass Tom Cruise running sequence.) that Ari Cohen (Lex’s best henchman who probably figured out Clark was an alien long before Lex did, Regan Matthews) appeared in. “Chapter Four” introduced his character Detective William Quinn who turned out to be withholding information that could’ve saved a woman from going to jail. Turns out he didn’t need to confess his role in the death of the victim because he’s gangsta like that.
So smug!
So great was he that he returned in “Chapter Nine” when Mitch (Josh Lucas) calls on him to he and Ray investigate a shooting.

*Equal opportunity flirter Cassidy Freeman was interviewed by AfterEllen. She talks “Longmire”, “The Playboy Club” and whether or not Tess swung that way.

CF: You know, to shock someone. I think she was really open and free in that way and just super-sexual. I mean, they set it up in this way where I had a lot of scenes with Erica and I'd be, like, fingering her French maid costume.

~ I watched a documentary over the weekend titled “The Other F Word”. It was about punk rock fathers and how fatherhood and their parents affected their lives. I was specifically interested in Flea of The Red Hot Chili Peppers and Art Alexakis of Everclear since I knew more about their lives than the others. I always thought the idea of wild and crazy Flea, a human version of The Muppets’ Animal if there ever were on, as a parent was weird. But as soon as you start seeing him putting her in videos and talking so lovingly about her it was obvious that he was a devoted dad. Now I feel super old because Clara’s grown and Flea is the same loving and devoted dad.

Some of the more heartbreaking stories were from Art Alexakis, Tony Adolescent (of The Adolescents) and Duane Peters (of the US Bombs) who suffered sexual abuse (Art), physical abuse (Tony) and the loss of a child (Tony and Duane). Amidst the tales of abandonment and parents who didn’t understand them are stories of how these men have made the choice to be attentive parents even if it means giving up many aspects of their career like touring to be better parents than the ones they had.
