Do you think the allegations around MF may have cost him the nom?
Nah. Only because if Hollywood voted by their morals Charlie Sheen would never had had a job as long as he did. Sean Connery wouldn't still be idolized. I think it's the content, frankly that the voters couldn't get behind.
There was an interview with Gia Carano in my local paper, in which she said the following, quite innocently, about MF enjoying their fight scenes: "he didn't pull any punches either. He slammed me into anything and everything that he could. And it was a beautiful thing because I didn't have to tell Fassbender, ‘Hey, you know, don't worry about me.' I was pretty sure that Fassbender enjoyed every second of it.” Awkward...
Hahahaha! Not that abuse is funny, but I'm sure he didn't worry. That's old hat...allegedly. But in terms of the film I wonder if Channing had a hard time with fighting her because there's a scene between the two of them that is absolutely brutal.
I'm astonished that "Too Loud and Incredibly Close" or whatever it was called got a BP nom - didn't it get slammed by the critics?
Slammed and everyone chided it for being the baitiest of Oscar bait but I've heard that it's really good. So I think once people got over their misgivings they went on.
Canadians very pleased about Plummer! I had no idea he was a Canuck!
I wonder if Channing had a hard time with fighting her because there's a scene between the two of them that is absolutely brutal. Yeah, she said he was very tentative at first!
