i gave blood today
i found out a couple of years ago that my uncle was in the paper for having donated some ridiculous amount of blood over his lifetime. he apparently goes in every time he's up for donation. i go 2-3 times a year max. i can't go in the summer or fall because faire is too taxing to be without enough bloods for a weekend. i'd faint! (fiddle dee dee.)
anyway, my uncle apparently got started because his dad, my grandpa, donated blood too, ever since WWII until he could no longer donate. so it turns out it is some kind of family thing even though i didn't realize it until recently.
today would have been my grandpa's 99th birthday, i think. (1914. or maybe 1917, but i'm pretty sure it's 1914.) so i felt it was fitting to donate today. :)
happy birthday grandpa.
we carry on.
