Robot DreamsSara Varon
A dog seeks the perfect friend, and finds him in a robot he puts together from a kit. Together they go to the library, watch movies, go on vacation. But tragedy strikes when the robot goes swimming, and rusts up so badly that he can't get off his beach towel. The dog goes to figure out a way to help his friend, but by the time he gets back, the beach is fenced off for the winter and their friendship will be no more. Lovely illustrations that are bright and fun keep things bearable, while the story contains heart-wrenching bits of loneliness, loss, and moving on. Wordless, it is accessible to all ages, but may be a bit sad at times for younger readers who have not yet encountered the loss that comes with loving.
