Hello...Good bye, Kimbo!

Mar 13, 2006 15:57

Kimbo left last night at like 5:30. She makes me laugh so much just by hearing her laugh. I wonder if she is ever sad or mad. I don’t think I’ve ever seen her show either emotion. She has this ability to just let things go and roll with the punches. I wish I could be more like that.

Friday night I met her at home after a very long day at work and a not so great conversation with Aaron. Just an off day for us…or me I suppose. We got ready and headed out right away because it was so incredibly warm and beautiful out that I wanted to be in it as soon as possible. We walked down restaurant row but didn’t find anything we were interested in so then I remembered this place called Rendezvous that has great Mediterranean foods and we wanted appetizers. Billie and Cathy met us there too. It’s a weird place because the front of it is a pizza place and then you walk further back and there is a tiny bar and then in the far back it’s decorated with colorful pillows and a few bistro tables and one L shaped couch. The service was terrible but the food is really cheap and yummy. We had a few cocktails and grubbed before we headed off to go see Billie’s roommate, Jay’s band play in midtown. He’s in a punk band called The Sick List.

We stopped at Billie’s so she could walk Piglet really quickly. I guess while she was outside some guys dog bit Piglet on his nose and we could hear Billie yelling from the street and she is on the 3rd floor. She came back to the apartment all fired up and saying the funniest shit. Now keep in mind Billie must weigh like 100 lbs and she told this guy, “You better watch out…if I had something on me…” It was hilarious!

So, we headed off this this bar where Jay’s show was at and it was a decent mix of people and there was a good band onstage. The bartender accidentally spilled a beer on Billie then this drunk guy knocked a drink on Billie’s white jacket. It wasn’t even that crowded in the bar and Billie was like, “What the hell?!” And the guy who spilled it on her got all in her face and was SO RUDE. I went to find a bouncer who did nothing really. We didn’t stay after the show and Kim and I headed to Rudy’s for some more drinks. We must have been 5 cocktails into the night at this point. I ran into Ray at Rudy’s and Joe was working.

So, we’re standing there at Rudy’s and all the sudden this guy walks up to Kim and she knew him!! From Davis. Small world!! I guess he lives here now and is going to acting school. Crazy!! He was cute too! Go Kimbo!

Then we headed over to Emmet’s to see Albert. I barely recall being there but I know that I had a cocktail there that I didn’t finish and we didn’t stay long. Albert asked me where I had been…clearly we were drunk and he could tell. Somehow we took a cab home and when we got inside Kim started looking for her digital camera, but it was gone. I called Albert to have him check the bar because that is where we saw it last but he couldn’t find it. It was gone. Poor Kimbo! We passed out and I woke up at around 9am, ready to die, in my clothes from the night before, including my belt (yah, that was comfortable to sleep in). My head was hurting so badly so I convinced myself to unhook my bra and pass back out for another 30 minutes. I tried to talk myself out of the fact that I knew I had to throw up, but no such luck. Needless to say, we didn’t leave the apartment until 2 in the afternoon and I still wasn’t 100%.

We went to Times Square to look into getting tickets to go see the Producers but the line was soooo long so we headed downtown to the TKTS counter there and found out the tickets were still $75 each so we said screw it and headed to the West Village for an early dinner at this little Italian place on Bleeker. We walked down Bleeker and into a few little boutiques that charge way too much for a wife beater that would only fit my nieces then headed to Magnolia Bakery for one of their famous cupcakes. The line was wrapped around the corner but the frosting alone was worth the wait. Mmm….

We got back to my apartment around 8:30 and rested for a bit then napped for a bit and by the time we were ready to hit the town again it was midnight. I didn’t think I was going to make it but Kim convinced me and we headed to Mercury Bar. They have such great music there! We had a few beers then headed back to Rudy’s which was just too packed to enjoy and so we went back to Emmett’s and had a couple beers then got home around 3:30.

We slept in until about noon on Sunday then went over to VNYL for breakfast. The rain came back today but at least we had two days of pure sunshine! I needed it! I was ready to pack up my things and head back West because I had missed it so much. We went to go see Failure To Launch that was actually much cuter than I thought it would be and by the time we got home it was time for her to go. It always goes by so fast. I love having people around who know the true me. It makes me feel at ease.

I sent a long apology email to Aaron tonight because I seem to ruin anything good these days.
