Laundering Money

Yes, I'm involved in dirty money. Bwahahahaha. I have mentioned in the past that I find money. All the time. Just about daily, and quite frequently, if it's a good day, more than once. Usually only pennies or dimes (small lightweight coins people drop more easily than larger ones like nickels and quarters). Coins are often quite dirty, so I generally rinse them off. We have a washing machine on each floor of our building with a thick rubber gasket to prevent water leaking out the door. Stuff falls under there--a lot. Usually pennies or buttons. The other day, I was so excited to find a very wet, clean dollar bill. Score! This is literally how I save for SHarecon.

Drove some students in Demelza's class to the Exploratorium on the Embarcadero in San Francisco. It had been more than thirty years since I went to the Exploratorium and it had moved to a much larger space. So many fun scientific facts and plain seemingly goofy but actually real science exhibits to play with. The class all had a ball--and we could go back 6 times and not see everything. Demelza and I may go back in the summer for another visit.

Last field trip, I was starving by the time it was a break for lunch and the teacher had forgotten to bring many of the kids' lunches, so they had to wait a long time. Today, I insisted my trio of students (D and two boys) eat a snack before we went into the museum. Much better!

The trip in made me remember vividly how much I hate driving in SF. The hills, the narrow streets--did I mention the hills? The one way streets. I lived in SF for 27 years and had a manual transmission Acura for much of that time--I hated the hills but navigated them with the clutch of my little red car. Now I have a manual, and sitting at a traffic light on the side of a hill gives me such panic. I know I won't roll back (as I used to in the Acura) and I know I can go forward and crest the hill, but it scares me more now than it used to!

On the other hand. SF is a fantastic city to walk in. I used to walk to more than one of the jobs I had in the '80s. Great for the legs and cardio! Plus, there's always something to see around every corner. It's also when I honed my money finding abilities. When I worked on Fisherman's wharf--where there were lots of drunk tourists at night--I'd walk to work in the early am and find coins around parking meters, particularly in front of bars. lol

Made brownies for Demelza's baseball game tomorrow morning--which is directly after tennis, and it might rain in any case. Then I go to work. Tired already.

Going to dinner with friends at Chevy's tonight and then to see Civil War, Capt. America (why isn't the title Capt. America vs Ironman? Cap is one of so many superheroes in the film.)

Happy Nurse's day! I got a cookie iced like a cardiac tracing on a heart monitor from the hospital. Cute. Apparently will get a lunch box next week from management. Whoopie. Actually, I do need a new lunchbox. But that's what they gave us last year, too.
