...If you wanted to share some kind of message with a younger version of yourself, what would you say?

[Simon's in the plaza today, hanging out by the fountain and pondering his journal. At some point he might be scribbling out a note on a loose sheet of paper.]

pondering one's fate, garlock

[This is the kind of question that can catch Sigmund's attention; but... carefully avoiding getting caught by the journal camera. Because he's a penguin.]

"Stop wasting your life."

[Hmm, suspiciously absent person. Now why is that voice vaguely familiar?]

Wasting your life?

It's what I'd say. [Still suspiciously absent, although the voice is a bit warmer. And a bit sad, maybe.]

[Interesting.]

Hopefully not all of it was wasted.

Not really sure what I'd say. If I warn them about things to happen, then they'll never happen, which would void me being at this point in my life and being able to warn myself. Telling them everything will work out fine sounds all right on paper, but it glosses over the parts where things won't be fine when they get to them. And telling them that it's going to be a crap shoot sometimes...well, that's not to good for the ego, either.

So...actually...probably nothing.

Maybe that's for the best. Empty promises or cruel warnings would probably just make life harder for yourself.

Definitely make life more confusing.

It's a hard call to make- to hope for a better life or feel content that you're not making it worse.

Be careful what you wish for.

Did you wish for too much?

I believe so.

But if I didn't then I wouldn't be where I am today.

It's unfortunate that you can't have one without the other.

Wouldn't it be the same for everybody? Warn yourself of this and that. It's always the same.

You'd be surprised how many people wouldn't do that.

I'd love to be surprised, then.

Several people have already come forward to tell me they'd rather live their lives as they were.

So you're really serious about this, huh?

[ Cue Kamina waltzing up, because that's how he rolls.

And by 'waltzing' I mean he's hovering in the air above the fountain, looking as only Kamina can look in a parka with his cape over it. ]

[Kamina, all that flying around is going to make someone dizzy. Simon just glances up and smiles, pen tapping against the sheet.]

I'm always serious, remember?

[ Kamina got dizzy one time, and that was only because he was flying in circles. ]

Right, like I'd forget. [ Grins, flipping upside down to give him a cuff on his shoulder. ] Guess this means you think you're going to go back to how you were for sure.

Not for sure. But everyone seems to believe it, so it's better to play it safe and take advantage of the chance. You know how I used to be. [Still is, in some ways. But that innocence he had before Kamina died... he should be protecting that, shouldn't he?

...except...]

...I don't know what to tell him.
