I'm an Auntie Again! (and Other Good News)

Sep 20, 2006 22:46

My friend Tammy (1lady_so_divine) had her baby on Monday morning, so I am now three times an auntie. She had a boy, Logan Trent, and everyone is healthy and well. And Logan's birthday will be easy to remember since it is two days after mine ( Read more... )

Congrats on the aquarium position!

I must say though, are you sure you're only 25? I mean, my grandma seems to have fewer hip problems, and she got hit by a truck...:P

Thank you! :)

I wouldn't have problems if I would let the damned thing heal. I think that it's a tendon-related injury, and the last time that I had a similar injury, it bothered me off and on for two years.

Offhanded aside to muse sitting on edge of desk: "And yet, what does she do? Go off and find some new strenuous activity to pursue." ;P

Hey, aside from hauling the equipment around, it's actually supposed to be relaxing to scuba dive. :^P

Certainly less strenuous than skating! :^D

Yaay! I'm so happy that you are taking important steps towards those jobs that you and Bobby are interested in. It's great to get some experience as a volunteer first, and I know this from personal experience. I hope you will love every minute of it even if this means that you will be even busier than before.

Congrats for Tammy! Was it a difficult birth? I certainly hope not.

And your bad, bad hip! I couldn't help laughing when I read Tarion's comment... But still, your hip shouldn't be so sensitive and so prone to hurting like hell. Take good care of yourself, will you?

The good thing is that we're only required to work four hours every other week for this position. We can work more if we'd like, but have the freedom, certainly, to keep our hours low when we're busy with other stuff. And they aren't hardasses with the volunteers either. As long as we call if we can't make it and keep up with our time, we're good to go!

So far as I know, no! This was her third, and she's never had any problems that I know of, which is good--and it means that I don't have to worry over her like I tend to do when I find out that friends are having babies.

But still, your hip shouldn't be so sensitive and so prone to hurting like hell. Take good care of yourself, will you?I believe that I pulled or twisted a tendon. I pulled my groin a few years ago (TMI, sorry :^P) and it hurt me for two years after that. I lost all range of motion in my right leg, ( ... )

Things are really happening now, isn't that exciting?

Yes! Though everything's happening so fast. Four months ago, I was still trying to make candy. (I'm still trying to make candy, but that 36-hour day hasn't manifested and so neither has much candy! :^D)

And I'm looking forward to reading your original story.

Yay! I hope you like it! Bobby has it now; he might actually welcome it after his chemistry exam tonight. :^P

Do I need to remind you to take it easy with your hip?

I actually am! Now that I don't skate, I have no excuse to wrench my leg over my head, and it hurts far less on a regular basis. It's those odd things--like carrying a scuba tank--that I need to learn what I can and cannot do until it heals...or at least learn to do in moderation, like not carrying my tank, equipment, and weights all at the same time!

*big hugs* congrats on both the new auntieness and the aquarium position!

(and heh, I know of Tolkien fanfic writers that refuses to read fantasy/sf or horror because the genres are all so "cliched" which imo goes for all genres... you have to look for the gems among light entertainment....*gets off soapbox*)

I know from personal experience that the literary people and the genre people like to fling mud back and forth. I was told, while studying writing in uni, that all of genre fiction is written based on a formula. Interestingly, a story of mine was pegged as being written off of a formula for the scifi genre. "Interesting," I wrote to the professor who made this accusation, "since I've never read a word of science fiction, yet I've managed to somehow absorb the genre's formula!" I think that people sometimes see what they want to see. She honestly believed that all "genre" writing was formulaic, and so when she saw a piece that she believed to be genre writing (when it was written, in fact, as ( ... )
