Suicide is a dark hole, though. We've all been in that dark place, and people who actually commit suicide have gone down a lot farther and deeper into that place. Each time, affirming more and more to themselves that they're going to kill themselves to escape it. They usually make the absolute decision a few years, 2,5,10, before they actually commit the act. They tend to lighten up from some of their concerns as they're comforted about their decision and the remainder of their life is setting their pace of closure.

And the same goes for you as well.
Dealing with the suicide of a friend or an aquaintence is really hard thing to deal with beacuse you'll never get the answers to the "what if's" and you never understand what made that person think ending their life was the only way. Last summer someone I considered a friend, someone who whenever we were all together would be the one to make us all laugh, died suddenly. I was told it was accidental overdose, and later found out it was suicide. Once someone has their mind made up about something like that, there is little one can do to help. So sorry to hear about your friend.
