Alrighty - it is a glorious monday morning, snow gently falling, fog on the mountains, couldn't be better. Oh, and I'm shamming out of an entire work day, so kudos to me and pray that I don't get interupted! God I love Karma :D
2009 saw some setbacks - various military failures and bad decisions, it's now time to put all that aside and focus on how to better things. Lessons learned from '09 and now broadcasted into '010 (haha) are:
1) Rank is, to non-career soldiers like me, essentially meaningless. Start standing up to people like the hitler-esque captain and whatever future officers and NCOs that come my way who have lost focus. Soldiers First!
2) Really dude, ease back on the porn! Find something a little more productive to do during lunch break like...
3) Start working out more. Morning PT not only sucks, but it's highly unhelpful. Propper diet, suitable supplements, and a good workout schedule are required for an easier 2010.
4) Save money! Shopping is like drinking - don't start on that road when you're deppresed, or you'll get in waaaayyy too deep! Unlike all those new soldiers, I've gotta get by without that 40 grand signing bonus!
5) Learn guitar. 'nuff said...
6) Set aside a monthly allotment for going to the Wolfhound, and get down there and unwind at LEAST once a month. We all need time off from the army, and sitting in yer barracks watching scrubs or porn is not the way to do it.
7) Prioritize combat gear for Afghanistan - I have too many cool toys, I gotta test this shit and start cutting it down to mission essential shit.
8) Job Focus - become an unreliable ass in the Supply office, and make yourself both competent and invaliable in the arms room.
9) stay alive! Practice more CLS classes, mentally prepare for the wounds you're gonna inevitably sustain down there, and be fully prepared to minamize stress and panic.
10) Cut back on coffee. Go back to the old tea routine... having the caffine jitters doesn't help in a high risk job!
11) Write more letters (like Lizzy's facebook note). Don't fall out of people's lives back home - this job is only temporary and I'll have a lot of catching up to do when I get back anyway!
12) Check the mail this afternoon :D
